Hiking

Trail was well maintained, but we trudged through 3-6 in or snow for the last mile or so. Lake was completely frozen over and it got VERY cold as soon as the sun dropped behind the mountain!

HikingGreat!

awesome trail, pretty easy due to it's short length but had some pretty steep spots. I took my dog (a jack russle) and I carried here some spots although she probably could have made it. the lake was warmer than expected so I took a swim.

This is a beautiful hike. The creek and the lake are crystal clear. Saw many good sized trout. The rock at stream crossings and on the trail is quite slippery when wet. Muddy in several places. Brush and grass overhang sections the trail making for wet shoes and tripping hazards.

It’s really steep and gets very, very rocky towards the end. I was hiking with my dog and we ended up having to turn back at the falls as I was afraid she wouldn’t be able to make it up or back down. My dog is a German Shepard, and I’m unable to carry her. Keep this in mind if you plan to bring your pet! Smoke obscured most of what I’m sure was fabulous views on the way up. I’ll have to go back on a clear day without my dog.

Great, short and semi steep hike. Took about 60 min to get to the top. Would have enjoyed it more without all the wildfire smoke. Would definitely do it again.

Short and sassy hike past a beautiful waterfall to Leigh Lake. Horrible smoke from the wildfires obscured what I assume is an incredible ring of peaks and cliffs. I expect it will rate 5 stars next time.

HikingGreat!

The road to the trailhead is very good and accessible with a car. The trail is in good shape and to the lower and upper Cedar lakes is moderate in difficulty in my opinion. To the trail end on the ridge is more technical and agree with the hard rating and not for anyone with acrophobia. There is one main camping site at the lower lake and four at the upper lake. This is definitely one of my favorite backpacking hikes of the season so far.

Using Strava app it was about a 9.5 mile hike. Nice gradual incline with a few great spots to stop and take in the beautiful views! Did not see any wildlife besides canines

The flow for this trail goes like this (from beginning to end): easy, moderate, hard, hard, easy. The final lack view is astonishing! Worth it!

Tackled this trail today! For someone with basically no mountain hiking experience, this trail was hard. Uphill the whole way, shale-filled areas, steep inclines.. the works. It’s a long trek for little kids, my friends 3 year old made it but had struggles. Many people had dogs. The falls, views, and lake were all gorgeous. I’m exhausted and sore, but well worth it. Took us about 5.5 hours. We enjoyed the falls and lake for awhile each. Would definitely recommend.

HikingGreat!Muddy

This was one of my favorite hikes ever, theres so much payoff especially this time of year! Drove up in a 2WD kia soul and the road conditions were perfect until the last mile where it got a little rocky and rutty but it was really nothing the car couldn't handle. We parked at Bear Lakes TH and walked the powerline road to the Baree Lake TH which in the end was totally worth it cause after 10 miles we were totally beat. Hiked to the lake crossing the main creek a couple times and a bunch of little streams on the trail which were a tiny bit muddy. Ate lunch at Baree and then continued up to going right on trail #360 and walking the ridgeline where there was an immense amount of bilberries growing all along the trail and down until the huckleberries start getting thicker. The views into Swamp Creek up towards Wanless were breathtaking to say the VERY least! The AT guidance says there is a false summit but there is only ONE at 6340'. Trail split right again and we followed #63 to the junction and cut right again on bear lakes trail. Like other hikers have said the trail is poorly marked, and if youre following alltrails guidance while recording you will get the 'off trail' notification quite a bit, and we saw plenty of bear sign so bring spray as well. Please dont forget to register at the trailheads so the forestry can take care of this amazing trail!

Tough but rewarding! Beautiful scenery the entire way with a great alpine lake at the end. Tracked this hike at 3.7 miles from the parking or. Didn’t see another person on the trail. Lots of water along the way and multiple campsites. Fish were jumping when we got here.
