I made it up to the beginning of the last pitch before the top, but it was heavily drifted and I didn’t think the snow felt completely stable. There’s probably a safe route up right now, but I couldn’t find one (I liked) after trying a couple different lines. Awesome snowshoeing though - be safe up there!

Great winter trail!! Feb 14th Hiked in my boots but could’ve easily been in snowshoes or xc skis. Marked well, parking right off the highway.

Due to massive wind storms we’ve had in the last year there are a lot of trees down. About 0.8 mile in, the trail is impassable as of February 7th 2020

Hiked this December 30th, it was overcast and it was eerily beautiful. Most of the hike we were in the clouds. We couldn’t finish the hike due to a lot of fallen trees covering a huge part of the switchbacks and had to go off trail. Lots of snow. Lots of animal tracks.

Hiking this trail, at December’s end, I would recommend crampons for sure; The healthy hill at the beginning was very icy. We started early and didn't encounter anyone until we were almost back at the trailhead.

Gorgeous hike and views! Hiked this in late December, lake was frozen and snow covered. The initial incline was pretty icy, micro spikes were helpful.

The road to the trail is solid ice 3 miles before the trailhead, right at the Switchback TH. My AWD lost traction, did a 180 and almost went into a ravine. Thanks to my trusty snow shovel I was able to hack a path in the ice for my tires and get out. I’m sure the trail itself is amazing, just be forewarned if you want to get there now. I’ll be back for another go in the spring/summer.

We randomly stumbled upon this trail and absolutely love it! We hiked 1.1 miles in and turned around from there. Would be a great running trail as well. Had to watch out for horse poop though.

A bit late in the season and about 1/2 the trail had snow but I made it. I lost the trail the last few hundred yards from the top with the amount of snow. Was grateful to have Yaktrax. This is a steep one. Pretty constant. Short sections of the trail my heels didn’t even touch the ground. Definitely worth it. Feels longer than what they say it is though. This hike is not for everyone. Make sure your legs are in good shape. Poles are a must. Take extra water. Views at the top are amazing. Pretty the whole hike though.
