Good day hike to do with the dog. First mile was rough but it was easy after that initial incline. Lots of fallen trees to crawl under, and the water was really high so there were limited spaces to sit by the water.

Beautiful views for a quick out and back trip. Easy enough for a season starter to get you back into hiking.

The snow is about 3- 4' deep at this time. A friend and I snowshoed up with my two Labs. The lake is still frozen. The first part of the trail is a steep uphill grind but it levels off, sidehills for a distance and then drops into the lake. Nice hike. Its about two and a half mile round trip according to the Hiking guide of Montana which I would agree with. Great Northern and Grant Ridge which you can see from the foot of the lake are gorgeous.

Excellent waterfall hike in the Winter!

If you are looking for a trail that has steep switchbacks through the woods, with no noteworthy views for most of the hike, and little more than a dirt road at the end, then this is the hike for you! With the exception of a nice view of the lake at the beginning of the hike, this was a pretty disappointing hike.

Beautiful views and easy for everyone!

Great hike anytime of the year!

It hailed the whole time, but always a great time in the back country!

Bug spray and cover up for the flies! We did this hike in late July with the beargrass on full display.

Great loop. My gps measured at 2.2. FYI. A lot of bear sign. Bring your spray.

Great trail! Uphill climb in, easy out.

If this is "moderate," I'll be staying away from "hard" ratings.

Very nice hike - no bugs and almost no people. Went a mile beyond maintained trail. Next time I'd go early and try for the mission range ridge.

Great hike. Do it every year

Easy and kid friendly hike. Falls are beautiful and you can hike right up to them. The views of the lake and Mission mountains are fantastic. Can be crowded.

Beautiful old growth forest well established trail. There are a few large fallen trees to get around or over. The hike offers a peaceful setting through the forest as the trail climbs to the overlook of Tally Lake. Must do!

Beautiful hike, and the falls and views are stunning.

Fabulous hike

Falls were gorgeous

Really pretty Lake with views of the mountains. According to my GPS, it's significantly shorter than 4.3 miles, but maybe that depends on where you stop. We backpacked in and camped, there are a few nice camp sites with fire pits. The trail starts off pretty steep too, and goes uphill for awhile. Not really what I'd classify as easy, especially with an 8 year old carrying a backpack. Overall, beautiful and a good hike or camp spot. Super easy access off Hwy. Decent lake to fish in too.

Nice hike to do on hot days-lots of shade.

This Trail exceeded my expectations! My 4 and 5 year old were able to do it, and it was about 90 degrees out! definitely a kid-friendly Trail! If its hot, encourage them by letting them know two small Creeks cross the trail along your way and there are plenty of opportunities to jump in the lake as well. If it's a sunny day, this Trail sees a lot of sun quite often so make sure to bring sunscreen and bug spray! The trail is wide and beautiful the entire way up. I'll be back for sure. It is a gorgeous hike!!

Beautiful surroundings. Pretty steep uphill for a good portion. Easy way back, but be prepared for lots of bugs!

Bring a fishing pole!

This is not an easy trail. Harsh inclines from the get go and much of the trail is over grown. Stanton lake is pretty and the hike down is much easier. I would say to the lake and back is 4.5 miles and would rate this trail as difficult.

Canoeing on holland lake is near impossible to beat. We went at the end of may and we got a quiet lake front camp spot that was perfect.

Amazing scenery once you get on the trail. Last bit includes some loose rocks and can have a bit of water run off, so be careful.

Okay, so I'd give it a 4.5 if you go on a weekday on an off week. Good hike with a few beautiful vista lookouts on the way up to the lakes. Defiantly worth the hike!

It was a great little hike. Very accessible for families! Beautiful views of the mission mountains and holland Lake the entire trail. Couldn't of asked for a better way to end memorial weekend!

Beautiful and fun! quite a few people and lots of dogs.
