We loved this hike. Lake lupine at the end was a great reward for a nice hike. Great for all ages just keep an eye out for the kiddos near the cliff at the beginning. Bring repellent for the skeeters!

Great Trail with good access to the lake at the beginning (or ending) and some climbing at the falls. In between there was a bit of a small water stream on the trail, but no problem with good shows or stretching legs from one trail side to the other. There were a lot of mosquitoes and it was totally crowded (social distancing sometimes not possible). We had lots of chipmunks at the falls.

Wonderful trail. Was looking for a trail as a backup to the crowded trails in Glacier NP. The trail was maintained and not crowded. Arrived at 10am on Sunday and got the last parking spot. To get to the trail, it’s a gravelly uphill road that’s best for cars with all wheel drive, also for those who are sensitive to bumpy car rides, bring Dramamine. Gorgeous views throughout the hike. The payout with Birch lake was worth the trek.

The trail is well maintained and clearly marked. We saw lots of berry bushes but none were ripe yet. The lake was absolutely beautiful and our pups had a blast swimming.

Great trail. Getting to the trailhead, McGinnis Creek Road is very scenic and paved well. Once on the trail, definitely a solid incline to the top but the views are worth it. Lots of wildflowers along the way, a few tree trunks to step over / under. Saw about 10 ish other hikers in total (we started around noon). Overall would really recommended this for a good, sweaty 6-mile hike with beautiful views that is an easy drive from Columbia Falls!

The Big Mountain via Summit Trail is a BIKE only trail. This is the hiking trail to the Summit. Moderately steep but made the top in a little over an hour. Started cool but quickly heats up as ~50% shaded. Great views on this clear day.

Spectacular for a one or two night adventure!! Beautiful scenery and no people. We hiked from Holland Lake Campground to Upper Holland Lake and then Sapphire Lake where we stayed the night on the northern edge on a piece of land jutting into the lake. There was a bit of snow getting to the lake but the trail is easy to find. It was spectacular - absolutely beautiful and majestic. We were there close to a full moon and woke up to the moon reflecting the mountains on the lake, which was one of the more beautiful things I’ve ever seen. In the morning we hiked west up from Sapphire Lake (not shown on this trail map) to the pass and then down the face of the mountain. The trip up is beautiful with a few forks in the trail without signs. The trip back via the pass required a steep ascent is covered in snow for most of the way up. If you can scramble up the northern ridge you have a beautiful 360 view. The hike down the front of the mountain is brutal. Almost three hours of straight downhill with a view for the first half. We will be back and I’d recommend this to just about anyone who can withstand the elevation gain!

The Glacier Lake trail is an easy/moderate hike that leads to a beautiful high mountain lake. There are 3 interesting log bridges along the route. Be sure to wear mosquito spray!

HikingOver grown

We totally enjoyed this trail but it is pretty overgrown in several spots so be ready to slog through a lot of brush. The lake is beautiful but we missed the uphill turn just before the lake that takes you up the last 1000 ft of climb. You reach the lake in 2.1 miles from the trail head. We did hike to the end of the lake as there is a trail that goes on the right side of the lake all the way to the opposite end of it.

Fun, short hike with an amazing view at the top. Don’t feed the critters.

This trail was a blast. It’s very challenging with a consistently steep grade through all of the switchbacks. Bring pants and good boots. Very thin in spots due to lots of growth. Had to climb over about 6-8 trees, which were easy. All of which were towards the end of the trail. The views around 2.5 miles where the other trails merge towards the top are the best. Once you get to this point, there’s a steep trail to your left. Walk to the top of that and look around. I’d highly recommend this trail to anyone capable of doing it. Over 90 switchbacks and they take up most of your time on the trail.

Great trail though quite the upward climb. The views and flowers were beautiful. Even played with snow on the trail. We did it quick since we didn’t have the kids but plan on a 4 hours up and down.

One hundred percent fabulous trail. Hardly anyone on this one in the morning. I think they were all on Mt Aeneus trail because the parking lot was a complete shit show when we got back. Go early if you want to avoid the masses.

This is a GEM! Would definitely recommend an early start; the parking area at Camp Misery was completely full up and then some by the time we got back just after lunch. The lake is gorgeous and peaceful. A great place to try your hand at some cuttys if you're into fishing :)

No service at trailhead (or any after you pass little bitterroot lake) so preload map if you need. Lots of mosquitos. Within the first .2-.3 miles there is a big cliff so keep dogs and kids close until you pass. Lots of people fishing at lake. Some mountain bikers. Campsite at south end of lake. Moderately trafficked this Fourth of July weekend.

Took the lift up and added the extra flower trail spur, which was a bit muddy with some fallen trees and snow, for a total seven mile descent from the summit. Stunning day with the Bear grass flowers and lupine just starting to bloom!

The 6 mile washboard rutted road up here is ridiculously rough. It shook our 1up rack right out of the hitch. Make sure you tighten your rack half was through. Very popular and crowed trail.

Wonderful trail with incredible views. Early July, there’s still so much snow on the backside of the mountain it’s just about impassable (hiked the loop counterclockwise). Spent about an hour going less than a half mile because we kept loosing the trail since all there is to go on is other people’s footprints. Had to turn around. Maybe later in the summer the trail is clear enough to enjoy properly.

Great little trail to the summit. Gradual uphill climb. Beautiful views of the Whitefish/Kalispell valley below. The last 1/10 of a mile is straight uphill. Took the scenic chairlift down. Great day!
