Length: 13.7 mi • Est. 6 h 31 m
The Upper Seymour Lake can either be a 13-mile out and back hike or part of a longer hike that follows the Continental Divide Trail. Trailhead begins just above Lower Seymour Lake Campground in the Beaverhead National Forest. The parking lot is spacious and has a pit toilet. The trail is used by hikers, but welcomes horses and dogs. The trail to Upper Seymour enters the Anaconda Pintlar Wilderness Area about a mile in. The trail is also part of the Continental Divide Trail. The trail is in excellent condition and runs through Lodgepole Pine forests most of the way. There are numerous springs and Brooks along the way and Seymour Creek is usually within earshot. The trail is easy for the first 4.5 miles before it starts climbing the plateau the lake sits on and even then, is not particularly strenuous. The lake has great camping opportunities. The CD Trail continues at the lake north to Goat Flat and Storm Lake Pass.Show more
