Road bikingBugsGreat!

Reached Weldon Spring Loop via Monarch Levee Trail to the Katy. Biked loop anticlockwise so was able to coast down long 6% grade hill. The trail itself is loose gravel and very uneven with packed stones in places which makes things slightly uncomfortable. There were areas where riding down the middle of the trail helped. Scenery is pretty and varied from large businesses to a lake. Wild flowers are in abundance as are birds and small wildlife. For the history buff many points of interest where small towns used to be in years gone by. Great ride will do again. Maybe clockwise and do the hill challenge.

Great view of the river from a few different points along the trail.

HikingGreat!

Highly recommend, clean, directions sign very clear, you cant possibly miss and get lost. no bugs or nats, might experience one or two cobwebs but that's rare and exist only because trail is long and controlling these are not possible. the track is a bit long but you dont get boring, scenery changes every now and then, a mix and flat and inclination. alone can be a bit scary but I am planning to go the second time running it. whe we hot there on Sunday, parking lot was full but we experience only occasional hikes. highly recommend, should definitely do it if you are in the area.

Very well-kept but this trail should be rated easy not moderate.

Excellent trail’. Lots of mountain bikers. Most of them considerate in letting us know they were coming up behind us and how many more bikers were behind them.

Nice trail but odor of the outhouses and road noise kills the vibe a bit.

As always, well maintained and very pretty. not packed at all. Came across maybe 10 people in 9 miles. No ticks, no mosquitoes, few bugs. love being able to let the pup play in the water upon our return to the parking lot. One of my favorite trails to return to in the STL area.

Lovely trail! I started at 2 PM on a Thursday going clockwise and I’m young but pretty out of shape (I don’t hike or really move at all a lot). For my fitness level, I’d say this was a easy to moderately difficult trail. There’s a lot of nice flat sections, but also some gradual inclines and a couple of steeper parts. There’s also some benches scattered every mile or so. It’s very shady and cool this time of year, and there weren’t a lot of people (I saw about 5-10 people). Fair warning though, most of the trail isn’t very wide and you can’t maintain social distancing when passing people. Also,I missed a couple of trail signs and accidentally went half a mile down a loop that would’ve added another 2.5 miles. About 1.5 miles in, there were a few offshoot paths from the trail that led to a nice little meadow with some flowers at the other end. The rim of meadow had been flattened by some vehicle, so I could’ve walked around it comfortably if I wanted too. Around 3 miles in, there’s some nice small cliffs overlooking the Missouri River (I marked one of them) - great view! I’d recommend this trail for a longer afternoon hike.

Got a little rough in places elevation-wise, but overall was a fun trail. Some spiderwebs, not muddy at all.

Hiked the morning of 9/15. The trail is very well defined and easy to follow. Shaded the whole way with some decent look out points off the main trail but mostly a walk through the forest. A couple steep points but mostly level. The Lewis and Clark section is much more populated and a wider trail. Once the Lewis Trail Loop splits off from the Clark Trail Loop it's much less traveled. I definitely recommend picking up a stick for spider webs at the split. Lots of spiders in their webs at around mouth level. I sadly ruined a lot of spiders' hard work that morning.

Not super strenuous, but there are a couple of nice look-outs. The trail is well-maintained. We didn't encounter many bugs. A relaxing getaway not too far from STL.

It’s a great balanced hike. You have a little bit of easy stuff along with steeper areas. I would recommend wearing pants to protect your legs from the over grown parts.
