Fun and challenging hike with a dachshund. Probably better saved for when I have a walking partner. I definitely felt like I'd got some exercise. During the week day it felt a little remote for a woman alone.

Really enjoy this walk with my dachshund. It's busy enough to feel safe when it's just the two of us but not so busy it's not enjoyable. We usually do two to three laps to get a nice walk.

Good variety of terrain and hills I use often for trail race training.

gorgeous trail but right next to a road and houses so you don’t feel completely immersed in the woods. lots of traffic inc dogs on leashes. great non paved trail, good amount of elevation breeze and sunlight. would def come back!

not very challenging outside of some stairs, and not a ton to do either. the bone bed info is stuff you can get at the museum. walk through the creek instead!

The lower elevation runs almost parallel with the road and is consumed by bush honeysuckle. Once the trail goes uphill, the invasive species decline substantially and the noise from the roads disappears. This is my favorite section of the trail. Beautiful rolling hills with plenty of gorgeous plants. Saw some beautiful moss covered rocks with a lot of Columbine peaking through the moss. This will be a gorgeous sight in early springtime.

The Limestone Hill Trail in Mastadon State Park is a nice, short outing of some rigor close to St. Louis County and Jefferson County residents. The scenery is ordinary. The dirt, root, limestone trail is easier on the feet than the granite mountains to the south. Please note, the park is closed during holidays, but you can park in nearby subdivisions.

Short trail but good to add onto the Limestone trail

Fun and love the cliffs

Perfect length and difficulty for my three boys and dog. Plus, they loved the limestone rock formations, birds, and other creatures they spotted along the trail. Can't wait to hike this one again in the Fall!

Not much to see, but a great workout!

Don't let this trail fool ya. Great workout. Can't wait to do it again.

I definitely wouldn't consider this trail to be "lightly trafficked", it always seems busy to me, but it's an easy and pretty walk.

Nice hike through the woods. A couple miles with some elevation change to keep it interesting. So many butterflies today. Part of the hike has the limestone Bluffs right next to the trail, unfortunately, the highway is also right next to the trail so the traffic noise detracts from the wilderness experience.

Short hike. Interesting view of Bluffs. Could see evidence of former quarry. At the site of the bone bed, there is an much, a wooden board interpretive display with a bit of a description and some bleached out pictures. Some nice elevation changes… Not for the physically challenged. But an interesting hike;

Heavy traffic, narrow trails. It is quite the hike though, also very beautiful!

The best part of this trail is getting to the real hike up the Limestone Hill. And the creek to play in along this trail. Other than those exciting features, it's an easy walk in the park.

I hike this trail a few times each week and if you access the trail from the museum parking lot the distance is 2.1 miles, takes me 40+ minutes and burns about 200 calories.
