Enjoy the solitude of an undeveloped cove, hidden along the shorelines of one of Missouri's largest lakes, Lake of the Ozarks. The 17,626-acre Lake of the Ozarks State Park offers this opportunity, along with a variety of recreational activities on the lake or on shore. On shore, hikers, backpackers, equestrians and bicyclists can use one of 12 trails that wind through oak-hickory forests and sunny glades and offer bluff-top views of the lake. Or visitors can take a guided tour of Ozark Caverns, best known for a formation of stalactites and waterfalls known as "Angels' Showers." Water enthusiasts can make use of the park's two swimming beaches or rent a boat at one of the park's marinas. Necessary supplies for a day of fishing or fun on the water can be found in the park stores. Year-round accommodations for overnight guests include more than 230 shaded campsites, ranging from primitive to those with electric hookups. Campground amenities include modern restrooms and laundry facilities. Eight camper cabins offer a rustic lodging experience. Lake of the Ozarks State Park's natural beauty remains untouched, yet visitors are just minutes away from shopping, restaurants and a variety of entertainment options.

The trail was clearly mapped out, nice overlooks, but bring waterproof shoes because you have to cross a small stream twice. Took us 56 minutes to complete. Would recommend.

Easy and peaceful trail. Didn’t see anyone else on it. Mostly wooded area.

This isn’t a trail on the park map, more just part of other trails.

Hiked this trail on a warm winter day and it was beautiful. Good views of the lake in winter, the carved mushroom stump was a neat surprise, a good workout but not too difficult, and easy to combine with other trails for a longer walk.

Very rocky and also narrow in some spots

With temps in the mid 50s here in November, great day to do the trail. Just me and my dog. Like previous posters mentioned, I’d rate it as moderate as well. Tried out hiking poles for the first time and glad I had them. With all the leaves down it is easy to lose the trail if your not paying attention, and I did lose it for a few minutes about a mile in, but picked it back up quickly with the help of the app. After that, I made sure I looked up regularly to find the blue trail markers.

Awesome anniversary hike! 65 degree weather, dry and sunny. Steep grade around the lake, but i found the perfect hiking stick.

Pretty easy trail. Good views of the lake. Nothing too challenging. Saw a bald eagle land in a tree which was pretty cool.

Views are amazing! Does go through some campgrounds, which I wasn’t a fan of, but it didn’t ruin the rest of it.

My wife and I were relatively seasoned backpackers when we married years ago but have not since kids arrived. We dusted off old gear and got the 9 year old out to do this loop and camp at the backcountry campsite. The campsite is well marked, but some weird bushwhacking to get to it. 3 fire rings back there only 20 some feet apart and really no place to pitch a tent. We stayed the night October 13th and it was pretty nice, bugs were mostly done for the year. Great way to test out gear for a future backpack trip, and our 9 year olds first. We are not fans of camping anywhere in Missouri or the Midwest unless it is during fall or early spring. Summers are buggy and brutal. I gave it a 3 consideration that if it had been tracked more and maintained with some regularity it could be easily a 4-5. This trail may be closer to a moderate instead of easy, as it is very rocky with much of the trail in fall line gullies. Downed trees covered the trail and you have to climb or bushwhack to get back on trail.

Beautiful hike on a beautiful fall afternoon. Rocks on trail are a little challenging, so glad we had our poles. Saw two deer together. Would definitely hike this trail again.

Easy trail with moderate elevation gains. I recommend hiking boots if you have any ankle problem because the terrain is a little uneven in some sections. If you start the trail behind the shelter, it’s easy to miss the additional loop for the scenic trail. Look for the sign by the creek.

The trail was mostly rock and loose gravel, kind of like hiking hiking through a dried-up creek bed. There was loose gravel on the hills and I actually slipped and fell once and lost my sunglasses. Was also trying out a new pair of hiking shoes so that didn’t help either, but my hiking poles saved me! Nothing too exciting on this trail. Brief glimpses of the lake but once I realized I lost my sunglasses I had to turn around and go back and find them. Also lots of gnats and spiderwebs in my face! Was not a good day for hiking for me!

Really nice hike. Ended up being 11.0 miles long and found it difficult to stay on the All-Trails defined trail. I would be going along on a well-marked trail and get the notification that I was off-trail and would struggle to find the defined path. Without the app, it would have been easy to get turned around and come out somewhere other than my car at the trailhead. Lots of spider webs and bugs. I found a Paw-Paw tree with ripe fruit(a rare treat) Hiking in 92degree weather is also not recommended. Would make a great fall/winter hike. Happy Trails!
