I only hiked the portion shared by the South loop as I hiked the entire south loop on 10/15/2018. It took me 7 hours with two short stops for about 15 minutes each and one about half way for about 30 minutes for lunch. Not many scenic views but there was such a nice diversity in the terrain. There was nice woodlands to some swampy area to open meadow. Part of the trail was closed and had to detour around.. It had rained the day before and several parts of the trail were muddy. So I am not sure if that was the cause of the detour. The trail was marked pretty good with the red and red/ green blazes. The most enjoyable part and most beautiful portion was that portion where the south and north loops share the trail. I would like to have been able to do the north loop as well to compare both loops.

My all time favorite trail yet! So peaceful so beautiful and I just loved it.

I would also bump this trail to a moderate rating.

I thought it was really pretty! The lookout point that overlooks the river is well worth it. It’s a fairly easy trail. Narrow, but not too much of an incline. Mostly throw the woods, but there is a pretty field and overlook of the river. Boaters seem to be really friendly. They’ll wave as the boat by.

One side of the loop trail is stairs (trail head across the street from the camp store) and the other is a gentle slope (same side of street as camp store), which could affect how hard/easy the ascent is back up from the lakeside. Stairs down/slope up is the easiest. The trail is easy, but scenic - with the lake, wildlife (4 whitetail deer that allowed us very close) and quite peaceful on a mid-Sunday. 1.5 hours at a leisurely pace if you stop and take a log of pictures, which we did!

Nice view of the lake. Easy trail with some rough terrain.

Beautiful trail, but we walked through a patch of seed ticks. Worth checking out if you’re in the Ozarks

Easy trail with pretty sights. Only warning is WEAR BUG SPRAY. Especially around ankles and such as we were infested with tiny seed ticks after it. Had to pick off ourselves as well as spray our vehicle down. (Or “bomb” it).
UPDATE
We had to be put on antibiotics because of issues with tick diseases.

I would bump this trail up to a moderate rating. Lots of elevation changes. Had some trees downed on the trail but that made it a bit more fun if you ask me. Went mid July and the deer ticks were out in full force. The cedar forest in the third quarter of the trail was very peaceful.

Has some great views not blocked by vegetation. We did encounter 3-4 down trees that blocked the trail and we couldn't hop over without walking off the trail some. Much to our delight, we didn't encounter one tick! Overall I recommend it!

Wonderful trail that passes along the lake before crossing a wet weather creek and ascending into the woods. A couple of glades are on the south loop and the views of the lake are best here. The trail loops back across the creek and ascends through the woods before popping out onto a beautiful open rocky ridge (hence the trail’s name I’m guessing) that is a tenth of a mile in length and like something you would find at Ha Ha Tonka.

Well blazed trail that runs through woodland and then next to the lake with interesting rock features on the opposite side of the trail. The trail then runs through a campground before ascending to the trailhead. It’s a busy trail.

Short well blazed trail that leads to a bluff overlooking the lake before looping back to the trailhead. Hard to see the lake during the summer due to foliage. Used by trail riders so watch your step.

This was a really beautiful trail. I didn't do the the two loops together, just one and it kept me busy for about 45 minutes. The loop I did had a nice view of the lake too. I recommend it.

Went for a run.. Not able to see great views. The meadow was pretty but there was a TON of cobwebs. Overall just a windy wooded path. Good for a short trail run, you won’t get lost. Went on it in the late evening, almost at dark, kinda gave me the creeps.

TICKS galore!! mud, horse crap, every step attacked by spider webs, got lost, definitely not kid friendly. Probably won’t try this one again

Very pretty, hike through wooded areas, field, back into the woods, and back around to walk along the lake. Main trail is 2 miles took my family about an hour to walk at a quick pace. The name describes the trail "rocky." Overall a very nice trail, secluded wouldnt recommend for small children unless you dont mind a work out to have to carry them in certain areas.

Great hike! Great views

First hike of the season...weather worked out great. Trail listed as moderate but I would say easy and a half....not quite moderate but definitely more than easy.

Very peaceful. Couple of creeks. Only made it 2 miles. Dogs were done by then lol. We have little ones. A lot of horse tracks but saw none.

Beautiful

A little muddy today but great views. Enjoyable

We clocked it at 5 miles. None of the climbs were difficult. Several stream crossings some easier than others but we made through dry. Lots of horse tracks but we did not see any. Lots of different terrains. Very enjoyable

Best trail at the lake without driving to Ha Ha Tonka. Nice variety of meadow, lakeside, and overlook. Pretty rocky but not too muddy, even the day after a rain. Took about an hour at a moderate pace.

Great trail . Easily accessible, well-maintained And beautiful views. Perfect for a short hike or even a run.

The quarry part is kind of neat to see! Nice, easy trail.

Nice trail along the lake and woods. Pet friendly but I wouldn't recommend it for small children, narrow in places with bluff on one side & steep decline to river on other side. Lots of birds, saw a hawk carrying dinner away. White pelicans on the lake--more than 50! Terns, herons, chickadees, large woodpecker, blue jays, and more

Went this morning with husband and dogs. Great trail. I loved all the changing sceneries. It went from woodlands, to creek beds, to meadows, to rock quarry’s, and then pinky pathways. Very beautiful and it was pretty well maintained and the trails were marked and easy to find.

Well maintained trail. It's a beautiful fall hike; vibrant colors and great view of lake along the bluffs. Only saw one other hiker so it feels like a hidden gem. Provides a great break from all the bustle of main street just minutes away.
