Gateway to the West The Gateway Arch reflects St. Louis' role in the Westward Expansion of the United States during the nineteenth century. A great trail, and doable for beginners, despite its length. I haven’t done it since last year (I think it’s currently washed out), but I highly recommend it. If going in the summer, be sure to bring sunscreen and lots of water. One bottle of water didn’t cut it for me. It gets HOT when riding along in the sun with minimal shade. Despite several drinking fountains, only one or two work (which is partly why I don’t give it 5 stars. The working ones are also close to downtown STL which do you little help when you’re way down closer to the Chain of Rocks bridge. But, even if you’re a beginner biker, it’s worth the ride. Highly recommend!

It would have been neat but the trail is currently under water.

Beautiful park around the Gateway Arch. The Arch is incredible and the views from the top of the Arch are amazing.

Nice paved trail along the river. This trail is moderately to heavily populated depending on when you go. Some spots are nice and can view the river. The rest of the trail is very industrial. There is a great free bike stop along the trail that has maps, water, and can help with bike fixes like; air, patches, and inner tubes. This spot made the trail earn the extra star.

Arch and homeless. That's all I have to say. If you want drugs, take this trail. Also, there is a big curved Arch.

There's the Arch! Looking forward to the development to be completed.

I love this park for walking. it's peaceful and enjoyable especially in the fall. Deer everywhere in the park.

I can now use my other hand to count how many times I've been on a bike in 15 years. So it's definitely beginner-friendly, but the length can make it challenging! Around the arch it gets congested with people but very quickly becomes almost deserted. Just follow the signs for the trail and it's easy to find your way. Cool grafitti, great riverfront views, and you can get up close to every bridge that comes across the Mississippi. Can't wait to do it again!

With the grounds of the Arch under renovation, it can get very hot in a Missouri Summer.

Great biking trail - not the best for hiking... all paved, but the new river front section is amazing.

Nice walk along the river while going to the arch and visiting the downtown area. Great little walk, but as mentioned, they are doing a lot of work in the area.
