fun trail with good views and some history

This was a great place to take my eight year old son to explore. We lingered on all of the dirt trails off of the asphalt trail and loved the ruins of the cabins.

A very easy trail.

Kind of weird you ending up in people's backyards, very small trail, but the chimneys are cool, a cool place to explore if you have kids. knocked it all out in less than 30 min

super easy I would say it's maybe a 30-45 min walk if you take your time. the chimneys are cool but as you go back into the woods you're pretty much in people's backyards which is kind of weird.

Trail is decently maintained. Could use some trash pickup but fairly secluded. Highlight would be the cascades

Nice, well used trails with a pond, bridges, and more. urban hiking with history. It's in KC, not Melville..?

It's a great park for families with kids or for taking a stroll, but it's not the place to for for a day of hiking as you are surrounded by residential homes.

This is a nice spot for a lunch break hike. It gives you a chance to stay in the city and not feel like you are in the city. This spot has a surprisingly rich history. A fun little walk but watch your step. It is not in top shape. Many branches and rock to maneuver around.

Neat place but some of it is poorly marked and you can end up in someone's backyard

It is a nice short stroll in the woods, in the city. One positive I find is having such a wooded spot essentially in the middle of Kansas City but unfortunately it's just not that large of an area.

To say there is a waterfall is a bit of a stretch but the area has a lot of neat things to see, is dense with forest, and had plenty of trail options. You don't feel like you're in a city at all.

Nice trails and easy to get through. Not much of a cave, but enjoyed the afternoon walking around.

it was alright, the tree was pretty impressive. overall it was short, and I would hardly consider it a cave

Cave Spring park is the only privately run and owned park in the KC area that offers hiking trails, scout programs and picnic areas 365 days a year. The park is open from dawn till dusk. If the gate is not open please check the website for updates or call them. The park just added a 1 mile outer loop hiking-jogging trail. There are 4.2 miles of continuous hiking trails counting cutbacks. It will take the average hike about an hour to hike the main trails but add another 45 mins if you do side trails and cutbacks. As for trash and trail conditions. The park is maintained by volunteers. 100%. Boy Scouts, Church Groups and the like. The only full time person is an 83 year old man who has made the park his life and spends nearly every day up there working and cleaning. The park is always looking for more help and programs. www.cavespring.org. The Parks difficulty level of hiking is low. It is a great place for kids and pets with leashes.
