Had to turn around due to trail flooding

Some spots were over grown and had to jump over fallen trees. I got off the suggested route a few times and into some more moderate areas. Lots of chipmunks and even a wild turkey and his mate in the Eloise Butler garden!

Nice hike in the woods, so close to Minneapolis. I was the only one on the trail. The wildflowers were past bloom but saw wild turkeys.

This route goes to the bog, but not into the bog. Cross the bridge. Bog is awesome.

lovely short wooded trail with lots of shade next to Eloise Butler garden. such a gem, just minutes from the city! we only saw 2 people on the trail, too.

Really good trail for biking. It's straight forward and and doesn't not have much incline. The trail itself is often under the sun with little shade being offered by the trees. Be sure to bring sunscreen.

This is such a lovely little oasis in the city! It's a short hike, but tranquil and beautiful.

A neat little hike, but really busy with runners and mountain bikers.

This section of Wirth Park offers a good amount of up-and-down over varied trail surfaces - paved, mowed, and uneven single track. Several small ponds dot the landscape. A couple of the ponds were alive with singing frogs. The wildflower garden is wonderful, although I went around it this time in order to keep my pace up.

great trail, lots of variation. option for trail or paved, some areas closed due to flooding or trail work now, creativity required but plenty of different routes to complete a loop.

Eloise Butler is a lovely short hike with hills and twists and turns. I reached 1.1 miles by taking every path even if I had to double back. It will be more beautiful once things green up a bit.

Dog are allowed as long as you stay on trails outside of the gated garden.

We did this loop twice today, a few days after all that rain froze in the Twin Cities. The trail was walkable without too much difficulty due to ice. It’s a short loop, not quite my favorite considering all the great trails we have around the cities. It has some mild elevation changes and twists and turns which kept things interesting.

It’s one of those trails where I’ll completely forget that I’m in a city.

Great walk! Easy to do. The garden isn’t open to dogs (unless service), but the walk around is gorgeous. Costs just $1/hr for parking.

I love it here. An oasis in the city. Shhh don’t tell too many people

Note that the garden has limited hours and does not open until 7:30 AM. The gate was unlocked, but I guess I play by the rules. The trail itself is wonderful. Signage not so much. Kind of easy to get turned around. Lots more trails outside the actual garden.

This hike is excellent for a quick escape into nature if you live in or near Minneapolis. Took the kids 6 & 9 and they really enjoyed it. Already asked to go back and bring some friends. There is a playground with swimming beach nearby as well. Perfect for a relaxing weekend day with a picnic. Nature programs almost everyday. The visitors center had a case with monarch butterflies emerging. The kids were amazed. Lots of birds and butterflies as well as wildflowers. Nice escape from the city.

Great out state biking. Quiet country scenery. Too crowded in the city. My wife and I have traveled it countless times.
