Stand on top of the scenic glacial hills and experience the vast, open prairie which once dominated Minnesota. Wildflowers and prairie grasses blanket the landscape from spring through fall. Swim, fish or boat (electric motors only) in the fresh, clear waters of 56-acre Mountain Lake. Canoe rental is available. A shady, spacious campground is available; horseback riders and backpack campers can camp at the trail center and at remote sites. A picnic area deck overlooks Mountain Lake.

Good, well marked trails. Very open on the high peak trail, must less shade than I anticipated. We were able to cool off at the “beach” after, however. Very clean restrooms. All water spigots in the campgrounds had drinking fountain type spigots. Perfect for hiking in 95 degree weather.

We came away with lots and lots of ticks though.

We went after it had just rained and the trails were incredible! So green and awesome! Highly recommended to come and hike around here

We loved the trails here, despite some bad weather. Moderately easy trails; they were not rough, but be prepared for lots of hills.

No relief from the heat if you're backpacking. Bugs are bad, even with spray. If you go, plan on having luck with moderate temps or go in the spring or fall. Pretty views but the heat and pests ruined my time.
