lower part trail is a little slippery.

5 star as long as the water isn't high.

Great views! Amazing greenery during summer. Will definitely visit during fall. It’ll surely be more beautiful!

Monitor water level before making a trip here. Best in the fall or before water gets high otherwise you will be walking through knee to thigh-high water part of the way to the bridge and when the water is high, the bugs will destroy!! Really awesome and easy when water level is down. My best guess is call Frontenac State Park and ask if there is water on the Sand Point trail. They probably know.

Great hike!

Definitely a challenge getting up and down the bluffs for a beginner. I would definitely hike it again, though. Hiked it in Keen sandals just fine on a dry day. spectacular views of beautiful Lake Pepin.

Ran this loop last weekend when it hit 100! Challenge uphill jog first 1/2, but gorgeous and easier second 1/2. Great run, beautiful trail.

The most challenging trail we have done as a family of 6. Kids ages 8,9,10 &13. It wasn't too hard, it was beautiful and a hike we will remember!

Not hard tho. I'd say moderate not hard. I've done this hike in the late fall and again in the spring. The nice thing about going at the end of the fall was some of the rock formations where more viewable due to the lack of foliage in the trees. I hope to go back in the fall during peak leaf color change.

Always something cool to look at, lots of big moss covered rocks. A few cool spots to go hang out by the lake, splash your face, and watch some boats floatin around.

Lots of built in stairs and a narrower trail makes for an interesting and the right amount of challenging hike

Beautiful and well designed for an alternative cardio workout. Don't underestimate the intensity of this hike by judging it based on the beginning of the trail. The end half mile of the lower bluff trail will leave you gassed to say the least.

Very muddy but gorgeous spring green. Lake Pepin is high so the sandy point is small but well worth the visit.

I enjoyed seeing bald eagles and white tailed deer here yesterday. There wasn't anyone else on the trail (I love midweek hikes). Trail is in decent condition though one of the spur trails had fallen trees over the trail. I liked the switchbacks and change in elevation. Good distance and difficulty for an afternoon hike. I look forward to coming back in the summer and fall when there are leaves on the trees.

Great trail on the bluffs. Risky when wet though. Overlooks the Mississippi River and multiple towns on the river.

Great Trail. Not difficult but up and down a few steep hills

Not exactly a "hard" trail until you have to ascend up to the rock formation. Very beautiful and interesting angled hike that takes a bit of balance too. A couple spots below to splash your face in the water. Lots of boat noise which was annoying though. Would definitely come back for this one!

This made for a pleasant autumn hike/walk. I would rate it as easy; very little change in elevation. The trail is shaded and the trees look nice next to the water.

I loved this trail! It has a little bit of everything! And the lower Bluff trail was beautiful!

A mix of sculpted bluff and prairie trail. It's not as scenic as other nearby parks (Afton, O'Brien, etc). My biggest issue is that a number of the prairie trails are roadside or require crossing a road and the bluff trails run into camping areas which can distract one from that feeling of getting lost in a good hike but that's just personal taste.

This was a fun hike if you can find the right spot! The directions thru this app were wrong! You need to go to the main park - way at the top by the overlook - there you can reach this trail! It was fun! Saw a fox!

This is my very favorite trail in Minnesota. The trail is wide and maintained well. The prairie section is perfect for running with rolling hills and slight uneven surfaces. The bluff/river section is awesome with views of the river, difficult rocky trail, and shaded woods. The trail itself in the woods is pretty challenging as far as elevation goes but the footpaths are wide enough to make the journey manageable. I went in August and the bugs weren't too bad. Being more water than you think you'll need. =). The only goofy thing about the trail is that the map and the trail markers don't match up 100% so make sure to grab a map (it's more up to date). Otherwise though, love love love this trail!
