Beautiful hike with a touch of snow covering most of the ground. Can be a little slippery in a few spots. Highly recommend exploring it outside of summer.

Nice flat loop. Trail has some spots that are quite muddy and slick, probably best to hit this trail early in the day when it’s still frozen. Saw 3 deer.

There’s a good deal of mud out there. If you head out early enough the mud will be frozen. I didn’t see much wildlife (probably because it’s fall) but there was plenty of evidence that the are a bunch of beavers in the area.

I love this trail, just not as much in last couple of years. I realize that noone can control a flooding river but better management of the situation might be a good way to go. some trails inside the park reopened recently, Pike being one of them. The trail is open with a bunch of caveats. I maybe got 1/2 mile before getting muddy, wet, annoyed and kinda just wanted to get out of there to be honest. Even the the alternate trail was washed out and flooded, with a sign still there stating to use it. not great management of the area. I expect them to get a handle on things by mid/ late 2020 as spring flooding seems likely again. I'm not giving up on Pike. better signage, better condition investigation and better overall decision making need to happen as well. 11-11

Great trail when it’s not flooded. Minnesota River side is closed. Middle trail should be closed too, only goes halfway until it’s impassable at this time. Mississippi River side/trail is mostly good but also flooded towards the end of the trail and you cannot reach the confluence. 10/24

Still slightly flooded. Flat. Pretty, but you smell fuel and hear planes the entire time.

It was muddy and there was a tree down that was blocking the path. Lots of mosquitos but really pretty next to the river! Watch out for stinging nettle along the path :)

Looks like this will be a nice trail, but when we went at the beginning of May, the narrow passage to get to the island was completely flooded and we couldn’t actually do the trail.

Every New Year’s Eve, the parks hosts a candlelit walk- the trails are well lit & maintained for a night walk.

As of today, the trail was open but there is still some minor flooding near the back part of the trail. So you can get about halfway but then have to turn back the way you came and cannot make the full loop. In any event, the trail is very nice and a quick three-mile getaway from the hustle and bustle. Parking is $7 if you don’t have a permit. Trail head is right next to the lot.

Great river views. Easy stroll with no inclines.

Trail is back open. You can definitely see where it was flooded.

Open today, August 13. It is a flat, shaded trail—nice on a hot day like today. You can add on miles by running from Minnehaha Falls area, Minnehaha Creek, etc.

Great trail— the State Park website says it’s open again. Any reports on if this is true?

Attempted this June 30th 2018, couldn't get onto it due to flooding. It looked great on the other side :D

My husband and I tried to hike this last weekend on 5/6/2018. Unfortunately, it was closed due to flooding. Definitely will have to go back and try it again! Thankfully, we found some other hikes at Fort Snelling State Park!

The wildlife you see along the way is exciting! I saw several woodpeckers, a dozen deer including two baby, and a bunch of wild turkeys. Only encountered a few people on my walk. It is peaceful and feels like your up north.

Easy and nice loop around pike island. Hiking shoes a must right now as it’s pretty muddy and slick in areas. Enjoyed getting out today and excited for spring. Easy parking as well. Make sure to get vehicle day or annual pass and have it out on dash.
