A family favorite as it is close to home but quiet enough to feel removed from the hustle and bustle of “suburb/city life”. Various trails boasting different arboreal species makes this park reserve nearly impossible to tire of, and perfect for an afternoon stroll through the woods. Yes, certain times of the year are more dreadful for flies, but it can be alleviated with adjusting your plans to come in a different season to avoid this annoyance.

Sweeping prairie views, peppered with small lakes, rolling hills, and wooded paths. Take your bikes or simply your feet for a half day of enjoying the outdoors. All paved, and mostly open, so bring sunscreen and water.

This trail (set of Tamarack, Aspen, Oak) is a very strange(?) experience. The good part is that it is one of the very quiet places you can be, and enjoy nature in its truest sense. The lake views are excellent, there are signs to guide at every junction, so getting lost is very difficult. On the other hand, be prepared for bugs and insects, they WILL swarm you. It might also give some the "spooky" experience since its very quiet around here

This is a really good trail to walk or bike on. Chanhassen is a very sparsely populated area and the footfall is very low so it makes it fun

I should have turned around as soon as you hit the tree line and the flies started to swarm...but I didn’t. I understand I’m outside, and bugs are part of the deal - but this was absurd. Swarmed by 10? 20? Flies around my head the entire time. Absolutely miserable. Couldn’t enjoy the beautiful park/trail because I had flies divebombing my eyes the whole time.

Enjoyable hike. Hiked 4.5 miles with my dog. Trail is mostly a horse trail. So dogs can't use it. Not sure what policy is when trail is closed to horses. Will be messy when snow melts so suggest doing it before spring thaw. Saw two bald eagle. Would suggest going in on Grimm road and using parking access there because of paved parking. For this trail follow the Kings trail signs. Sure it would be beautiful in spring and summer also. But remember dogs are not allowed on horse trails. Great overviews and a few picnic tables on trail. Will be going on my do again list. ALWAYS WALKABOUT!!!

Great nature walk with some elevation changes, but easy overall. It's been well maintained and was easy to navigate.

This is a very nice park with a good variety of nature. The surroundings vary, including woods, meadows and wetlands. The trail is consistently relatively wide - sometimes very wide - and includes gravel, mulch and floating bridges over wetlands. I'd consider the trail to be rolling, with some short but moderate climbs. It didn't seem all that difficult, but it did kick my behind (and my knee) today.

I'm guessing it would be a great place to visit in the fall, with the variety of trees.

If you're planning to come with a dog, be aware that dogs are only allowed on the paved paths.

Did not complete the whole loop. Good birding overlook near the turn around at the south end of Carver Park Road. Trail between the lakes passes through a large expanse of prairie restoration, which was largely bald land in April 2017.

We live in Eden Prairie, very close by. One of our favorite urban hikes. We do the entire park in once or twice a month year round. Takes about an hour and a half.

Overall this was a great trail to walk. Some gradual elevation, but very easy. It was a well-marked and very well maintained trail with some scenic overlooks.

Very easy trail and well marked. Great for snowshoeing as well with rentals at the Lowry Nature Center...$5! Good blend of terrain but not much elevation change.
