Van Riper State Park contains one-half mile of frontage on Lake Michigamme with a fine sandy beach. There is also one and one-half miles of frontage on the Peshekee River. A slow drive through the north of the park may reward you with the sight of a majestic moose!

Hiked with a fresh dusting of snow on the trail. Mixed with the fall colors it was a great little easy hike. Followed with lunch at Mt Shasta Resturant just down the road. Wow, what a find!!

Great trail, views of river and the overlook is worth the hike. You need sure footing as some spots are rocky and narrow.

Decent trail with a lot of hills and some steep climbs over large rocks. The Overlook loop takes you high above the area. The day I was there, the temp was about 60 and humidity was very low. The wind was strong. All in all, it was a good day. The wagon trail has several downed trees forcing you up to 20 yards off the trail to get around them. Not hardly any wildlife. No bears, no moose. just a couple of cute chipmunks.

Nice overlook of Peshekee River and Lake Michigamme. Trail has steps on one climb to help stop erosion. Other sections include roots and rocks.
