Tawas Point has been referred to as the "Cape Cod of the Midwest." The campground is located on Tawas Bay where the water is shallow and warm for swimming. In the park is the Tawas Point Lighthouse which serves as the sole representative of a true Victorian-era style station on the Great Lakes.

Mid July. Hiked trail just after tour of the lighthouse ( cool and interesting by the way), the trail was easy for most of it but there was one section that was so overgrown that I felt I needed a machete to get through. Some areas were washed out. The views of the lake were beautiful however. Did not see much wild life other than a few species of frogs and birds. Decent trip.

great birding trail :)

Need to make another trip out here soon; it's been ages since we've been hiking up there near Tawas Point and the lighthouse! This was where I won a couple fishing trophies as a kid and my mom sang a couple concerts here (among other places around Tawas). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We just hiked the rough trails down the tip. Nice trail, a bit confusing and waterlogged at times. Great views back toward the mainland. This is a nice little food stand where the pavement ends and the trail begins. The lighthouse is also a delight. Swimming a possibility; the beaches are small but more than adequate.
