Description

Located on Lake Huron's Saginaw Bay, Port Crescent State Park is full of sandy shoreline. It features a wooden boardwalk to walk along, with stunning views of the bay. The park also offers water activities like fishing and canoeing, along with hiking and cross-country skiing. There is also excellent bird watching in this park, as well as excellent views of the sky at night, as this is one of the seven dark sky preserves in Michigan.

The hike is moderate to easy with some sandy hill climbing. It's a great all season hike through wooded sand dunes that protect you from winter winds. There are elevated scenic overlooks of a river and it's mouth into Lake Huron. The hike can be modified to in include about 3/4 of a mile of beach as one leg of the hike.Show more
