The Holly Recreation Area's rolling woodland and prairies dominate this landscape, and are featured in the Holly Woods Disc Golf Course, offering a variety of challenges and fun for all levels. The nearly 8,000 acres of woodlands and open fields provide opportunities for a variety of activities.

It was muddy today due to snow last night

The Holly Recreation Area trails are well-groomed and marked, good to use year-round, and pet-friendly. They are also connected in a manner that allows for a range of different mileages. You get very slight but frequent elevation changes and a wide range of habitats. Great spot not too far from civilization.

Excellent trail for off season or general training. The inclines are challenging and the trail varies greatly.

8 years ago the Wilderness allowed mountain biking to be added with great support. The area South of the Overlook parking know as Lakeshore does not have biking privileges, please respect that. All of these trails as do the Holdridge Lakes trails have lots of elevation for a challenging day whether walking, running or biking. Hope you enjoy them as the volunteers put in a lot of work to keep them open. Ebikes are not allowed on any of the single track dirt trails.

Great hike! this is my first time hiking here in the winter. the trail was a bit icy, muddy, and snowy, but still very well marked. Only saw a few people. Pretty & quiet day.

Great trail, the pups and I had fun! A little slick in some spots, but really nice trail.

Easy-Moderate for hiking. Signage is lacking, and multiple loops to complete.

Extremely rough terrain in snowy conditions. I would rate this trail Hard in the winter months and Moderate in the summer months. Beautiful scenic views around every corner.

Slushy. Hiking poles are highly recommended due to slippery on downhills.

Perfect 2 to 3 hour day hike, close to home. Used by bikes, runners and hikers.

Trails are beautiful in December! The Wilderness Trail is a beautiful sanctuary. If you have the energy after Wilderness, do a 2.5 mile cool down on the Lakeshore.

Not sure if it is better in warmer weather but the trail was extremely muddy and not well maintained. I almost slipped several times. There are sections though that make it feel really remote.

Great trail for the area! Would definitely recommend as a trail run. Beautiful rolling hills and depressions (thanks, glaciers!). Went hiking and there were a few icy spots. I'd imagine it gets muddy in the spring. Not too many folks out and about. There are pit toilets at most of the trailheads and the trails are marked with typical recreation area maps and numbers. It was only a bit confusing near the rustic camp area. Would definitely go back for a run!

This trail is a string of different trails and ended up being over 9 miles when I tried to follow it based on the downloaded apps. On top of that, whoever made this cut off a ton of trail so you end up going through a ton of brush and thorns. The west loop portion of this trail is beautiful though. Would do that section again.

Decent hiking trail but mostly a biking style route

GORGEOUS trail. Beautiful during fall weather. Enjoyed myself. Definitely a tough hike though. A lot of incline and rigid trail. Definitely a moderate/lightly hard trail. Will definitely be back.

Good trail with lots of options to take. Mostly oriented toward mountain biking, but hiking is allowed.

An easy to moderate 5.7 mile XC trail.

Great trail for the area. Good trail signs except for RV dump area. Very enjoyable!
