The Holly Recreation Area's rolling woodland and prairies dominate this landscape, and are featured in the Holly Woods Disc Golf Course, offering a variety of challenges and fun for all levels. The nearly 8,000 acres of woodlands and open fields provide opportunities for a variety of activities.

Got lucky with weather today . 38 degrees and no wind . The trail was very nice and simple to follow. I’d love to do this in peak color season and incorporate it with the lake shore section. The trail incorporates a few lakes and has some dandy inclines in the north east section . Loves it !

Great walk workout.

Really nice trail ! Short but sweet. The lake is pretty much in view the whole time. A few hills , nothing that kills you .

Nice trail. Definitely a moderate trail. Little hills throughout the whole trail. Also rocks and tree roots sticking up in numerous places, have to watch your footing. Otherwise it’s a nice trail that follows a lakeshore most of the time. Loved it!

In need of some attention, this train has thorns that could be cut back and some big impassable logs cut out of the way. I enjoy this trail for the speed and climbs it offers.

Long climbs, fast down hills, and a few tech spots. Some of the trail got a little overgrown. Overall, it was a nice ride

Well marked trail with some challenging hills, generally wide but with some narrow passages through raspberry thickets. I recommend long pants. it says it's a 5 7 mile hike but I clocked 8.25 miles. I did the 10-11-12 loop twice by accident and took one side trail that I thought led to a picnic area with an outhouse (it didn't). This is not the prettiest place I've hiked by far, but if you're just looking for calorie burn, this hike will do it for you.

Well marked trail with some gentle hills. Be careful at the beginning (I think around marker #16) not to veer right too early - you’ll be on an off shoot of the trail but it’s pretty overgrown.

Lots of biting flies

it says no bicycle. I drove all the way here and its says no bicycles

Nice trail with beautiful views, numerous small hills for different vantage points and quaint natural bridges to navigate marshy areas. Conveniently located near metro area but much of the loop feels nicely isolated and removed from civilization.

Great hike, but it is not over 8 miles (as shown in my All Trails recording). The hike was closer to 6 miles.

Very nice trail for a beginner to mountain biking. Most of the trail is about 6ft wide but there are sections of single track. Some nice climbs. The trail is signed for mileage. You can start the trail at the DNR campground station or go over to day use area and start at the shelter just before going down a big step hill that splits the lakes. Getting back to the trail it's self. It's very fast and is nice if your not looking for a technical trail. There is a halfway short cut through campground if your not up to doing the whole thing.
