My go to when in need of a nice walk with the dog.

Nice trail with scenic views, however the trail loop requires you to run down River Rd to Old Mashapaug Rd (or vice versa depending on which trailhead you started on) and through private property on a single trail. Otherwise you can run either side of the river and turn back at the end.

The Westville Dam loop is a nice, scenic trail with some elevation changes though nothing too difficult (Sprint up the stairs for an added workout instead of the ramp). You do need to run a small portion on the access road, but it's usually not an issue traffic wise. A favorite for dog walkers but there is a 6' leash requirement.

Hard to rate this trail downward. The trail itself is excellent with a nice view of the river. Still I would recommend not doing the entire loop as it runs through private property at points plus the map is not entirely accurate showing the trail heading in places their is no trail. Instead explore each side separately and combine with the nearby Westville Recreation Area trail.

Brisk morning hike, 9 degrees, but worth it. Well maintained and great morning views, ah tranquility. Enjoy...

Nice and easy short walk around the river. Path is well tended and easy to walk. Enjoyed open meadow area and view over the river and the lake before the dam.
Trail connects to 'Grand Trunk Trailway' if you want to extend your hike.
