Open year round, dawn to dusk. The banks of the Mystic River are almost entirely publicly owned, from the Amelia Earhart Dam at the mouth of the Mystic Lakes, making it one of the Commonwealth's best protected streams. The river has been much altered since the 1800's when its shores were largely saltmarsh.

I live close to here it's an easy walk to on nice days or drive to on cooler days. while there there is plenty of shaded area as well as open grass for your dog on an extended leash. Also a lot of seating is available. It is definitely on the quiter but there does tend to always be at least a few dogs dotted through-out. Mostly flat walking area. Very nice, leisurely walking area.

A short and good walk in Medford with plenty of parking. The park is pretty scenic and is undergoing a lot of renovation. I esp like the fishing pier which has been renovated into a nice observation pier now. There is a wildlife observation tower at the tail end of the loop but I wish it was taller as Boston's skyline is partially obscured.

This trail is one of my family's favorite destination in the area especially during the day. At night, the stretch between Paddleboston to Mystic Parkway bridge gets seriously buggy so you may want to avoid it. The loop is an easy going one hour or so walk at a casual pace. There are plenty of wildlife to see along the way from swans, cormorants, ducks, herons, and sometimes even egrets. You can rent a kayak or canoe from Paddleboston and enjoyed the Mystic River as well which I've done a few times.
