the trails were marked but finding the mark was itself a challenge

The trail to the summit is challenging but well worth it.

Challenging. The whole path is rocky with medium to large rocky and tree roots. Offers a beautiful view of the fall. Required a lot of stops for break and water. Best travelled with trekking poles. Some lookout views if you go further past the falls.

HikingGreat!

One of the most challenging trails we attempted. We usually do easy to moderate but thought this time we amped ourselves up for a challenge. We asked and we received. Massive cardio workout as you ascend the terrain and lots of agility skills descending it (you'll feel that in your thighs, knees, feet). The waterfalls are good photo ops and a pleasure to admire. The Middle Falls Trail looks like a mess in our recording - that was A LOT of climbing with minor off trailing as we followed the faded red trail marks (scrambling up through rocks, fallen wood) right after you come across the waterfall at Lower Falls Trail. Now, our overall trail recording completely deviated from the original trail that we were supposed to follow and it was a great decision we made. We were tipped off by a hiker saying that Mount Everett viewpoint was crowded, underwhelming and overrated. We took his advice (we love less crowded spaces) and kept following the trail with white markers which I believe to be visible after you passed a camping site (refer to my recording). As soon as we reached this cliff past the peak, there wasn't a lot of people at that time and yes, this is a super nice vantage point. We had that whole area to ourselves for quite a while too. If you hiked that long, that high (it's not Everest, but you get it) and that far fully exhausted - this is an amazing reward for all that work you put on. You may disregard our last leg of that trail - we completely weren't paying attention and accidentally took a different route that added more miles back to our car. Great trail, nonetheless!

Hiked this Trail 06-07-20. The hike was great with nice waterfalls and clear paths (blue) to follow up to Race Brook Falls Campsite. Along the way is semi steep inclines, but nothing to challenging. Once at the campsite going to Mt. Everett peak the trail (white) narrows a bit and becomes more challenging with steep rocky inclines. There are a few stairs to assist but would still be a challenge for the less experienced. The peak is a nice spot to rest with ok views. The real views are past the peak site, follow the path past the peak for a wonderful cliff side view and past that alittle down the trail is a bench and open lookout of the ranges. Overall wonderful hike and workout!

Hiking

This trail was absolutely beautiful. The forest was beautiful, canopy, waterfalls and all; but the best part is arriving to the lookouts where the trees open up allowing you to see the world below and a clear view of the horizon. It was a tough hike, the incline was steep and I had to take a break every so often just to catch my breathe. As you get closer to the peak the incline gets steeper. It sucked but what kept me going were the aromatic flowers growing around the trail.

The waterfall in the beginning is definitely the highlight of this trail. There are a couple tricky spots where you need to scramble but for the most part, definitely on the moderate side of “hard”. There aren’t much in the way of views at the summit as it’s all blocked by trees, no clearings, still nice though. Good variety of terrain, heavily trafficked.

Beautiful hike. A little steep in the beginning but not bad at all. I’d say more moderate than hard.

This was really fun but much harder than anticipated. I brought my dog and normally she has no problems on moderate hikes with me but there were more scrambles than we thought, especially near the top. Really gorgeous views but harder than I'd assumed based on the description and other reviews.

We arrived just after 7am and were maybe the 5th car in the lot, but never saw anyone for the first 90 minutes, which was mostly spent exploring the lower falls and trying but failing (like another recent reviewer) to find a way to cross the lower falls. Instead we had to backtrack to the trail split. Oh well - that part was easy. The first third and final third of the trail from the split to the summit were challenging, especially given the 97% humidity and completely socked in views this morning. Naturally, as we headed down the summit the skies began to clear, ha! We passed a LOT of people coming up on our way down and we were glad for our early start as social distancing is impossible on some parts of the trail. We drank (filtered) from the upper falls - which were a true sight to behold and the destination of many people we passed toward the end of our hike. The rocks were slippery and dangerous in some parts even in proper boots, and there were some water crossings I stomped right through rather than trying to rock hop and slip. I recommend trekking poles for the steep descent. All-in-all an excellent day on the trails and this hike was on-par distance and elevation gain-wise with the two easiest Adirondack High Peaks, so good training if you're planning to hike further north soon!

Awesome hike, challenging and rewarding. Falls can be very crowded depending on when you go
