Hopbrook Marsh Conservation LandLength: 5.3 mi • Est. 2 h 14 m
This is a system of lovely trails. Part of the mapped route goes on an old, eroding paved road whereas other parts are dirt-packed, sandy, or pine-needle covered. Every part is wide and well maintained with very few rocks or tree roots. There are also lots of boardwalks in good working order over wetland and bodies of water. A great deal of the trail is through a charming, old pine forest with hardly any undergrowth and consequently few bugs. The scenery along the way is magnificent as you go from a marsh to an old forest and forest clearings to a pitch pine stand, an old railway, and more. An excursion off-route into Hopbrook to walk by the pond is worth the extra mileage.
