"A man may stand there and put all America behind him." Henry David Thoreau The great Outer Beach described by Thoreau in the 1800s is protected within the national seashore. Forty miles of pristine sandy beach, marshes, ponds, and uplands support diverse species. Trail has had a lot of brush cleared out along the sides! Little mucky due to weather but still a great easy walk. Definitely do the Swamp Maple loop along with the Fort Hill walk to the shore.

Everything was iced over, so pretty!

Nice walk to start the new year. 6 miles, mainly out and back on dunes and tidal flats as well as a lovely section thru scrub pine woods. I'll not plan another walk there, will go to other national parks instead

Nice winter hike from visitor center to the beach and back. This recording is along the hiking trail. (No bikes on this trail)

We went on a sunny day in December. Spectacular. Windswept, sunlit dunes with patches of evergreens and grasses rolling off toward the blue sea. Glorious solitude. Temperature was in the 30s but we were plenty warm because of the sun and the hilly trails. Loved it!

Nice trail, especially for a windy day. While it’s described here as a loop trail, it’s unmarked and there are so many side trails that you can wander around for hours. There’s a nice ocean view on a small segment of the trail which runs along the road, and then it’s back into the Pine Forest. Two kettle ponds, which may be inviting for a summer swim, but in November we simply enjoyed the serenity.

Great early winter walk, add swamp trail extension

Quick loop with several hills and some nice vistas of the salt marsh.

Up and down with sone nice vistas.

Awesome hike. The sand is tough on the legs but the views and beach are well worth it. Proposed to my girlfriend there it couldn't have gone any better.

This is a gorgeous and easy walk. We combined it with the Fort Hill Trail to get a longer walk. Highly recommended!

I love this trail! I think this area is absolutely stunning. If you want a longer walk you can easily link up with some of the other trails in the area. This is my favorite part of the Cape.

I love this trail! The salt marsh is so beautiful, and there is a great variety of flora and fauna to be observed.

I'm a huge fan of boardwalks, so I love this trail! It's so fascinating to be able to explore a habitat that normally wouldn't be easy accessible.

I'm a huge boardwalk fan, so I absolutely love this trail!

I love this walk! I used to come here as a kid and it's still wonderful many years later. The marsh is so beautiful and full of life.

Causeway to woods light to long point light house. Left at 10:30 for 12:15 low tide. All dry no water crossings.

Absolutely beautiful trial along the marsh and then beach. Did in early October and couldn’t have been better!

Great trail. Some dunes may be more difficult for inexperienced hikers. Great marsh, seashore and wooded ecosystems. Great birds and beautiful vistas.

Good for birding

Very enjoyable hike at low tide. All the way to bellingate island. Some amazing views of the island from a number of bluffs. Highly recommend for anyone in good shape. Caution, walking on the beach is soft sand and behind the dunes on the way back is very soft. Hint: every chance you get, take the tiny trail offshoots for amazing views!
