This rolling, heavily forested property has over 20 miles of roads and trails and is used primarily for hiking, walking, horseback riding and fishing. Dean Pond Recreation Area, located in the western portion of Brimfield State Forest, has a pavilion, comfort station, 100 linear feet of beach and picnic facilities. The roads are popular for equestrian use and related special events.

Started at Dearth Hill Rd parking area and headed west down the Gorge Trail which is very overgrown with no views of the gorge. Continued on Dean Pond Rd to Dean Pond dam (passed a big coyote eating a deer). Plenty of broken trees as this area is in the "tornado alley". Bushwacked up to the top of Dean Mtn then continued around the Pond. Returned to parking area via loop trail. Pretty nice, the best area is around the Dean Pond (you can park down there too and save the extra few miles if you want).
