I'm writing specifically for the section around Crooked Pond. As I live in Middleton, a 5 minute drive to the trailhead, I wish I could give this section a better rating, especially since many of the trails are part of the Bay Circuit Trail. The first .2 mile section is wide and well-maintained, since it is a fire access road. You can then choose to continue on the main path, or go left. Either way will take you on a loop around the pond. There are many side trails/game paths diverging off the trail, but as long as you keep the pond in sight, you'll find your way. This area is very poorly marked, and not well-maintained. Several years of storm damage is evident in the many fallen trees. It's easy to see that some have been there for a while, as a well-trodden path has been worn down around them. There are also many parts that are too close to the water. As the summer progresses, and water levels drop, these areas become almost impassible from mud and insects. I would advise anyone through-hiking the BCT to avoid this particular section, and seek an alternative route.

Solid loop, but there are some streams to cross right at the start and some abandoned trails. We walked, but this is a fairly rocky trail that is probably not great for runners. Parking on that dirt road isn’t bad for a few cars. There’s a pond north of the loop that is perfectly circular on the map, but it’s surrounded by marshlands. Really wanted to see it in person, but it appears to be completely inaccessible. The western trail we had to double-back on has lots of fallen trees obstructing it and near the end of the extended loop we attempted, to our dismay, it is completely flooded by two marshes that are now connected. Overall, it was an challenging hike for us with a small dog and two kids under 7, but it was an adventure!

Nice trail but because it's not heavily trafficked it's easy to lose your way as the trails are not very well defined in some areas. And I'm pretty sure there are some missing markets.

A really neat place to explore. Lots of hills, rocks, roots, a good mix of terrain. Awesome for trail running. The pups loved it.

I liked this trail! It had a lot of walking/hiking options and a lot of pretty scenery. It wasn't crowded at all, which I really liked. Besides the trail being a bit bumpy in some areas I loved this trail!

This is a real nice trail - relatively easy but cool landscapes and changing vegetation.

Really like the drumlins in the park. Reached Bald Hill but some stretches of bushwacking through junk in less travelled trails. Lots of horseflies.

Most trails were well marked and overall the hike was good. Very rocky at points and beware: there were many many snakes.

It was a lot of fun. So much more to hike, the only thing a lot of the trails was washed out. But also that made it fun too

Nice loop with a mix of steeps and single-track. Nothing spectacular, but a great workout/training path
