Very nice walk on a beautiful day! Make sure you wear clothing that covers because bugs are bad in the summer and the plants are tall. The trail is very natural. Lovely personal hike if you want to get away!

It's a pretty short hike with a steady incline to the top. The view at the top is gorgeous. Unfortunately there is broken glass all over the ground under the tower, so be careful if you take your dogs. Not much else to say about it.

Trail needs some TLC. It was very overgrown. If it weren't for that, I would have loved it. I'll probably try it again, but maybe in the fall.

If this is the fire tower trail, agree with prior poster. Trail is basically a gradual incline road to a very nice overlook. Climbing the fire tower was the most adrenaline induced part of the hike. Great pics!

easy walk, beautiful view, fire tower n lots of rocks

It's short but tough in the incline going up to the summit but totally worth the view. Do not recommend doing this trail on a hot/humid day.

was more of a off road trail for state access rather than your typical trail. beautiful view. I was undue that I went the right way because it's conservation land and I was afraid I was trespassing but I met some scientists doing wildlife work and they assured me it was open to the public

Worth all five stars in my book for the view at the top. It truly is one of the best -- maybe in Maryland. The trail up is unremarkable, mostly grass covered. Fairly steep grade, but not the steepest -- just a steady work out about a 1/10th of a mile in for the remainder of the trip. Absolutely gorgeous with leaves down as the views are great on the way up. BUT the rocks -- stunning!!

Evy, or anyone else who is searching for this location, it is somewhat obscure to find. I think I tried every wrong direction before finding this beautiful trail. The basic idea is to travel south/west on Westernport Road, passing Pine Swamp. From there, keep a sharp eye out for the turns in the road, and for any pull off. Watch for a yellow gate on the right, and a pull off on the left about a mile and a half from Pine Swamp. It's not marked with anything other than that. Another very helpful link for this area: http://garretttrails.org/high-rocks-trail.html.

I was limited on time so only hiked in a mile and a half from Big Run Park. Nice traverses across the stream. Relatively flat. Probably would be nicer with more leaf fill in late spring or summer. Will hike more of it next trip to the area.

Nice trail. There are a couple trees that are down but are easily passable. You cross a steam quite a few times so there is some danger there especially for an inexperienced person.

Long moderate hike. Very quiet and peaceful. It was fun crossing the stream so frequently.

The water was low in many areas and there were A LOT of stinging nettles; nonetheless, it was a good hike. Our group did not see anyone one else during our stay. Camped overnight near the stream and had an easy walk out in the morning.
