Nice trail. Went with my teenage and 2 dogs. We ended up going off the mapped loop accidentally when we saw a trail head across the river. All good though we got back to the road and walked that back.

Awesome trail! The river was high so we had to cross through it but overall it was great!

Took my dog on this walk. she was old and I had to carry her or hold her tightly on some of the more challenging parts. But it was certainly gorgeous and peaceful .

Hiked the whole Hemlock Gorge extended loop. Very poorly marked. The section on the one side of the bridge is pretty easy and mostly follows fire roads/trails. There is still a huge tree down in this section that blocks trail. On the other side of bridge/road is a hidden treasure! You hike Along a creek that comes into a branch of Gunpowder Falls. There is about a 1/4 mile section that is a rocky passage. Some fun rock crawling and climbing and whitewater. You’ll Cross a few creeks and prepare to get your feet wet. Be careful around the rocks, it is pretty slippery in spots. One of the best hiking trails in the area

If you stick to the path detailed by AllTrails, you don’t run into any overgrown areas with lots of poison ivy and thorns. I would suggest taking the path to the North first and then finish up by the stream. We saw horses on the first part of the trail and on the second part we saw people at the stream. Some were jumping from rocks into the river. All-in-all it was a pretty nice hike!

The AllTrails route is barely hikeable, it's so overgrown. I deviated a lot, and had to use sticks to clear away the many spiderwebs and to hold back vines and thorns so I wouldn't get tangled in them. I was very fortunate that I didn't upset anything and a very tall grass, I saw a molted snakeskin on the trail, so they must be in the area. Definitely need good sturdy pants to hike this, and long sleeves, since there are so many thorns and vines.

We went with five boys between 5-13... they had a blast! The cemetery added a great historical element and they loved getting to walk through sections of the stream. Along the river, the trail is so beautiful...it’s like walking through a calendar. There are some steep spots, and through the rocks it can be hard to tell exactly where the trail is, but the app makes it easy to follow. Definitely going back! This will surely be one of our new favorite trails!

While the trail was not marked, the majority of the path was easy to follow, although parts were overgrown. There is currently a massive tree down blocking the path about 2/3 of the way through. You’ll need be creative while trying to go around!

Nice easy hiking trail that is good if you like to jog in spots. Agree with below review on taking 1st right which goes through pine forest area. Good trail in boots or tennis shoes.

Overgrown with nothing exciting to see. Not worth doing.

Good trail for workout. Need boots and pants since wet in spots and some areas with tall grass. Recommend doing after a day or so of no rain. Says "Easy" but more like between "Easy" and "Moderate"

Nice hike, lovely wildflowers, good views of the stream. Not another person on this trail this afternoon. Great ferns and moss.

Using the google maps gps location the trail head is located on your right about 30 yards before the River Valley Ranch sign if you are coming from the north. The trail was very hilly and rocky. There were a lot of gnats and flies but with bug spray it was manageable. The trail loops around but it does go out on the road for a bit. I found myself checking the app often as the trail was not marked.

Hiked about 1/2 of the 20.5 miles. So much of trail is along the water which is beautiful scenery. Hadn't rained in a few days so trail only had a few wet areas. Need pants and boots for sure. Great trail. Plan on hiking the 2nd 1/2 soon.

This particular map sends you down fire roads that are indeed very easy, but the part next to the reservoir is overgrown, unmaintained, and not marked. We had to break trail and bushwhack in a few spots near the little coffee in the reservoir. The uphill hike to get back to the fire road is just open forest no trail is really left there. As the spring growth gets heavier, this may become unpassable. Try other maps for an easier loop!
