Really nice 4 mile hike. Go for the walking itself, because if you want the payoff of a wide view of the gunpowder, you won’t get it off this trail. The trees are too dense off the end of the trail (Try the logging trail for that). However, the water is shallow enough that you could potentially walk out past the trees. I just wasn’t equipped for that this time. The trail was wide and brilliant. Full of sweet smelling shrubs and even a bamboo forest, from which I foraged shoots ! Easy stroll.

Really nice. Wide trail, plenty of room for hikers, bikers, horseback riders, and joggers alike, although not a soul was present on my walk. Beautiful array of trees, shrubs, native flowers, and wildlife. Easy walk down to an idyllic view of the gunpowder. Peaceful, serene, Quiet and secluded. Excellent spot for reflection and contemplation.

Beautiful hike on wide fire roads, many of them old horse & buggy roads, in a remote area of Prettyboy, you will feel like you are going back in time. Several great water views. The route shown here, however, misses the first trail straight down to the water, another old road supported by a stone wall, and when the water level is low (2008), you can see and go across a bridge from 100 years ago to the other side of the reservoir.

Nice easy hike, great views and relaxing 'reward' when you get down to the water.

Nice walk on the fire road. Lots of beautiful ferns in late May. The stretch by the water is unmarked and overgrown—plenty of pricker bushes, poison ivy, and bugs. Easy to lose the trail.

This is my favorite trail. It was a beautiful day but there were hardly any other people. The views are gorgeous and the length of the hike is perfect.

This was a wide open, flat trail with slight rock here and there. Went out to find a trail to run and this worked perfectly.

Just had my first hike on this trail. I hiked just over 2 miles. It was nice and wide and open. Nice views of the water depending on which trails you take off the main trail.

Logging Road portion is fine but where you come around the water line you have to make a trail until you get past the cove and then find the trail at water line. Other than that a very nice trail

A bit overgrown. Lovely views. Easy to Medium difficulty. Trails not marked so be sure you have your GPS maps running. Hunters were around the area too. Definitely will do this park, and different trails again!

Stay on the trail for a nice shaded walk. If you want to get to the water it is a narrower trails that are over grown.

Lovely specially the part parallel to the lake

Nice hike and great views of the lake.

Great trail run easy down to destination view. Easy run out with a 349 elevation gain . Dirt sand small rocks

Nice easy hiking trail that is good if you like to jog in spots. Agree with below review on taking 1st right which goes through pine forest area. Good trail in boots or tennis shoes.

This particular map sends you down fire roads that are indeed very easy, but the part next to the reservoir is overgrown, unmaintained, and not marked. We had to break trail and bushwhack in a few spots near the little coffee in the reservoir. The uphill hike to get back to the fire road is just open forest no trail is really left there. As the spring growth gets heavier, this may become unpassable. Try other maps for an easier loop!

This is a perfect trail for everyone! The path is wide in most areas, and easy to access. The end of the trail gets a little steeper but brings you out to a beautiful clearing at the reservoir.

easy walking the ridge. side trails down to the water make it more fun.

nice easy trail to start but with the amount of rain we have had(9/20/18) the water level of the reservoir is so high the trail is cut off by the water and we ended up bushwhacking. wish I brought a machete with me to clear the path. tons of prickly bushes
