Nice moderate hike with great views at the top!

Great workout for the distance. Lots of up and down. I'd definitely do it again.

Good trail and decent workout as well. Ran into several deer on my hike. Would do it again.

Rocky path. beautiful. good Sept canopy makes it nice to jog even in rain. about 4-5 fallen trees need to be cut from path.

Really good trail for kids and dogs. Really easy for beginners !!

Fun but definitely very rocky!

Love this trail. Slight workout but not overwhelming!

I did the entire trail in just over 9.5 hours. I parked my car near the Mt Zion Church at the northern end of the trail and started my hike at around 6 am. The AllTrails map help me navigate the entire trail. The trick is to remain on the blue blaze all the way through. The trail is well marked, however due to heavy rain, sections of the trail were full of water and had quite a few stream crossings which weren’t difficult. I did this trail in preparation for the presidential traverse hike.

Beautiful!! Probably should’ve paid more attention to the “moderate” part for my first hike in many many years. BUT, I made it and I didn’t quit.

Nice hike with some elevation climbs. It’s mostly forested with a few nice lookouts.

Nice workout of a hike. Multiple nice overlook points!

I love running this trail. It has a good bit of variety. Some good climbs and technical terrain. The views aren’t that great but if you are looking for a challenge this is a great one for 10k distance trail training.

Decent trail. Look out for bikers.

Yes it was rocky which wasn’t to big of a deal for me. The big deal was that the trail disappeared at the halfway mark. No “black” marks on trees and no used pathways to follow. I ended up following the yellow path back to my car.

Was nice and shaded but I would not consider this a trail for running is very rocky and more for hiking and make sure to wear good hiking shoes I wore running shoes ... thinking was a trail for running.... and wasn’t enough support for ankles

Well marked trail. Must be part Billie goat to interact with the rock covered trail.
Beautiful and challenging I enjoyed the run. Completed the full yellow trail.

If you have trouble navigating without maps and want to start by ditching them- this is a good trail. All the trails are very well marked( didn’t stop us from getting lost though- which was all me) Beautiful green and not busy !

Very nice trail, took my small dogs (was a little tough for them). There is a good amount of up and down and some nice lookouts.

Needs work. Middle section looks like recent heavy rains carved a culvert into the trail. Some overhanging foliage made me wish we brought a machete along.

Parked one car at Hamburg rd parking lot, and drove to Gambrill Park Rd and started the blue trail in the parking lot of the Gambrill trails. It was about 6 miles the one way, and it is pretty rocky terrain the whole way. Lots of inclines and declines, and definitely makes you sweat! It was a beautiful hike, will definitely do again!

First time in Gambrill State Park. Really enjoyed it. Rain made rocks on part of the trail a little slippery, but other than that it was what I expected.

Nice trail....very enjoyable.

Entering the trail from the right of the parking area is a rocky downhill hike. Beginners like my husband and I benefited from using trekking poles. The second half of the loop heading back up to the left side of the parking area is much smoother.

Fun, challenging, remote trail. Was only able to do the southernmost section by Gambrill State Park. Would definitely complete more of this trail, especially when it's not a blizzard.

Nice hike on a warm winter day. We got a pretty good workout in and saw some cool views (we were able to see pretty far as most of the trees had lost their leaves).

Not much to see and a lot of it is by the road. I'm sure in the summer with the leaf cover it seems more secluded and quiet but the car noise cut down on the quiet during my warm January day hike. The trail is very rocky too so you spend a lot of time on foot placement/focus looking down. I did this with a 30lb weight best so that tended to make the hike more of a workout so keep that in mind with this review. What made this challenging was the sheer rockiness of the path. I don't think I'll try this one again soon but it's worth a hike for sure.

My husband and I randomly decided at 10am that we wanted to go for a good hike but still be done in time to get the kids from school. We got to the trail head around 11am. We took our time and made frequent stops to just enjoy nature. We were done by noon. Even with stops it was about an hour and very enjoyable. We’ll definitely bring the dog next time but it’s a little too rocky for our 4yo to hike without constantly tripping. Great for big kids, adults, and a sturdy dog

Beautiful trail not too many people!! I was able to let my dog off leash to run around. I’m somebody who gets scared of animals but I did not see any on the trail though. Before walking into the trail there was a sign of snakes and black bears so I got nervous but I felt very safe hiking alone with my dog!

Great views! However it is more challenging than moderate with the rocks - especially the downhill after 1.2 miles . It can be tricky with fall leaves covering the rocks.
