Elk Neck is your year-round, travel destination to connect with the vast landscapes and waters of the Chesapeake Bay. The park boasts 2,188 acres of sandy beaches, marshlands, and heavily wooded bluffs overlooking the North East River, the Elk River and the Chesapeake Bay. As a result, there are several journeys you can take while in the park.

Nice hike and trail is fairly well maintained. There were two places that I paused to figure out the trail path, but the snow may have had something to do with that. Talk about snow, caution, this trail is VERY VERY slippery today due to the snow and the wet leaves. Make sure you hike on a low tide due to the beach walk.

Very easy walk on the main trail to the Lighthouse and a great view. I took the loop which was a little more effort. I told the Ranger of falling trees on the loop path.

Nice little park, kids enjoyed it.

We liked this trail. We went with our sons (12,15) The footing was a little rough and lots of downed trees along the trail. The only issue we had was figuring out where it ended. It was well marked up until that point. Fortunately, we ran into a couple and followed them. So if you do the trail and come to the beach, hang a right and the trail goes behind the cattails.

Easy gravel trail up to the lighthouse with a great view of the bay. A more woodsy trail loops around to the top too. Can get busy on a nice weekend and the parking lot is small, so you might have to wait to get a space.

The more woodsy paths were barely kept up a lot of fallen trees. Sometimes you couldn't even tell if you were on the paths in the woods. I don't mind the out doors and bugs etc, but I've never been hiking on a path with so many damn spider webs haha.

A nice, quick hike.

Very easy trail.

Great time all shaded trail. Great state park.

Very nice and easy trail that we hiked after touring the lighthouse and lighthouse trail. You get a chance to get close to the water and enjoy the scenery around you. The majority is shaded which was nice during the summer time.

VERY buggy during the summer as you are walking around a marsh. Make sure to bring plenty of bug spray and water! It was very confusing to find the end of the trail because it was not clearly marked. It essentially just ended and spat us out at a beach. I'm assuming that they want you to walk down the length of the beach to the right and climb through the marshy area over logs to head back to the starting point of the trail. During the time that we visited, this was in about 6 inches of water. We weren't sure if that was the way we were supposed to be going, but we eventually made it back to where we needed to be.

GREAT hike. Very easy, as it follows a paved road and dirt path directly to the lighthouse.

Lots of downed trees requiring you to climb over them or under them on the trail. they should build a bridge to cross the water. can be tricky trying to use the logs and rocks. very fun time!

We enjoyed our hike in the woods but we weren't sure we were on the correct trail to do a loop. We went out and back- overall 3 miles but it led us back to Irishtown road. The trails could have been marked better, but the overlook was beautiful. We definitely will be back to continue the trails here!

Easy walk and great views along the way, parking is an issue. Not enough parking and everyone parking illegally got a ticket, better get there early. Very nice spot out at the lighthouse, very peaceful until the drone Air Force showed up. Noisy little buggers. MD Park Service should not allow.

Was a cute and great little trail. Was muddy so I didn't get to bring my dog, but it was very foggy when we went so it was super cool seeing everything look very eerie! Great and recommend for people first starting out!

Great walk for those starting out hiking. Path is clear and mostly flat with beautiful views at the end. Bring a lunch and a great camera. a little less than 2 miles, a few hills.

Was a great trail to take. Worth the 40 minutes it took (most of us) to get there. Went with a group of 7. there was parking at the building with white roof that you can see on google maps. We did this trail in the winter (january) so the thick foliage was gone, revealing a great trail. Half of the trail was gravel/dirt road, but still nice to see. Only other concern is that we saw at least 5 hunters on/around the trail this morning, so just plan for that a well. Some of the trailed seemed like it would be hard to find once all the foliage returns. Lastly, the park map doesn't show the last portion of the trail to return the parking lot, but there is an improved trail; so it was easy get back to our vehicles. Again, a great trail, glad we found it here.

Easy in and out, cool view. Type of hike you can do anytime and could bring a good book or lunch.

Great hike didnt see anyone the entire time. About half of it was gravel road and the rest trails. The last part of the trail headed back to my car seemed much less traversed and had more downed trees with brush over the path. This loop is close to home will definitely be doing it again.
