I love Bacon Ridge. I have not ridden there since Sept 5 2018 and wondering how the conditions are. Too muddy to ride?

Really enjoyed this fast trail. Will definitely be going back.

This is a well maintained, well marked trail that isn't terribly difficult. Though it is not extremely visually stimulating, it does have charming points. Bugs can be bad when down by the streams. Bug spray would have helped.

There were quite a few mountain bikers but all of them were polite.

Great trail for all skill level especially if you are in bad shape. Beginning my health journey, the trail was challenging enough but also enjoyable, went at sunrise, 90% of the time we were the only other people. We ended up walking about 3.2 miles and went in a loop parked in little lot near Chesterfield Rd. Live so close this will probably be a daily trip. Also perfect for trail running and biking.

Its a great trail, well marked. We followed the trail exactly as mapped out and using GPS we found out that is around 6.25 miles, not the stated 5.5. We also found an area off to the side of the trail where a few old wrecked cars are sitting. It was hot and muggy but we finished the whole thing. The only thing we did not like is that quite a few mountain bikers did not ring a bell or let us know they were coming up behind us, we always give way but it's not easy if we don't know they are there. We will be returning.

Great trail! Well marked and somewhat hilly. Excited to discover this gem in my backyard

First time on this trail along with my 12 year-old son (his first time on a real single track). Needless to say these trails did not disappoint. Great for beginners to experts who want to get a quick ride in but don’t feel like trekking out to Patapsco. Excited to see what the future holds as they build out the trail system.

Trails are nice but they are not labeled at all, only signage is to get back to the parking lot.
Not too technical at all with just a few log crossings.
Great alternative when Patapsco is closed or just want a change in scenery

This is a cool area in the heart of Anne Arundel County. The description above is a little misleading... the trail marked is actually the Hawkins Trail off of Hawkins Road, there are many trails in the area that make up the Bacon Ridge Wildlife cooperative.

We started at the Hawkins Rd. trail head and hiked until we saw the first parking sign and headed back, it was pretty muggy today and we didn't realize it would cut the trail so short. It ended up being about 2 miles total, had we kept going it would have been much longer. The road sounds aren't terrible and once you get away from the road it is really a lovely and enjoyable trial. There are no blazes marking this trial, but it's VERY clear where the path is- it is not at all difficult to see where the trail is and where it will go.

This area is great for hiking, trail running, and (based on the number we saw) biking. This would be a great trail for kids, and there is a cool old car graveyard on this trail.

Pretty challenging. A great way to start the day! There are a lot of hills and fairly significant elevation changes.

This trail is awesome for all hikers and bikers who love nature and the outdoors. Although it says the trail is 5.5 miles, there’s also an option to make it shorter (just follow the “P” signs). This shortcut, which makes the trail about 2 miles long, will take you almost immediately to the old car graveyard. I will definitely be coming back to do the whole trail!

The kids and I enjoyed a beautiful 60° spring day. First time trying this trail despite living in Annapolis for 44 years. a few cyclists but overall a great hike.

Very fun trail with lots of hills for a great work out! Not as crowded as I expected on a beautiful Saturday in spring, especially on the back loop. I did the whole thing and it clocked me at 6.3 miles, not 5.5. Other reviews are accurate in that: 1) not all bikers call out, which isn't an issue as you can hear them coming, except for 2) the noise from 97 is deafening in a few sections. Really loved the old car graveyard too. This trail is a bit of a trip for me but I definitely plan to return!

Really nice trail, but there were quite a few mountain bikers who disregard trail etiquette and will fly past you without ringing a bell or an "on your left". Cyclists, announcing your presence on the trail is for the safety of others and for yourselves.

amazing

See my review from October 28, 2017. The only thing that I would add is the Route 97 road noise was noticeable not only at the beginning of the trail, it was also Noticeable at the end of the loop. That section of the trail is also close to route 97. Overall, the hike was great!

The Bacon Ridge Trail was an enjoyable hike in the woods. The parking lot fit about a dozen vehicles and the Hawkins road shoulder provided additional parking. The trailhead is located beside the parking lot. The trail itself was a dirt path that was easy to follow especially since it doubles as a mountain bike track. At the beginning of the trail I immediately heard the heavy traffic noise from Route 97. Fortunately that distraction was replaced with the sounds of nature as I continued further back in the trail. There was a refreshing mixture of inclines and descents throughout the trail. It was important to watch out for the large tree roots that were under the leaves that recently fell. There were many mountain bike riders enjoying the trail. Unfortunately only a few cyclists announced that they were racing up behind me. I found myself constantly looking over my shoulder to ensure that I would not be hit. Besides the natural beauty of walking in the woods there were a few things of interest that I noted. First the path provided a good view several steep valleys that had many ferns along the bank. Then there was really large birch tree that was uprooted with a root ball that was over 8’ tall. Last but not least there were several old cars that were abandoned. I believe one was a 1957 Chevy. Without a roadway anywhere in sight, it amazing that the vehicles were abandoned there. Throughout the path there were several signs that indicated the direction back to the parking lot. This local hike was overlooked in the past, but now that I found it I plan on going back.
