Camden Hills State Park signature location is the scenic vista high atop Mt. Battie where sweeping views of Camden, Penobscot Bay, and surrounding islands await. On a clear day, visitors can see Cadillac Mountain at Acadia National Park. Mt. Megunticook, the highest of the Camden Hills - and highest peak on the mainland - is a moderate climb by foot trail. Other hiking opportunities abound and are well-mapped. The park is located a few minutes north of Camden, a quintessential New England town featuring shops that are within walking distance to the working harbor. Harbor cruises, whale and puffin watches are available daily. Summer nights spent under the stars is a recipe for family fun. Campers who stay at the park's campground enjoy the comfort stations that are equipped with hot showers. A popular fall activity for hundreds of visiting "leaf peepers" is to drive up the Mt. Battie Auto Road and view the surrounding hillside of fall foliage color.

This was a fun hike, but I’m not sure if we stayed on the trail the entire time. Paint markers seem to be few and far between — there is a good bit of rock scaling involved. Make sure you have good shoes!

tougher than moderate in my book. was very wet with leaves made it more challenging.

Good quick day hike, steady incline, can reach overlook in 40 Mins from base of parking lot.

Beautiful hike. Great views in the way up. the summit was surrounded by tree unfortunantly. But very worth the hike for all the views!

Amazing panoramic views of the bay.

Great hike! Short, sweet, easy and great views. Tried to loop over to Maiden's Cliff and that was hard to find, but gorgeous hiking all through the park.

This was the first physical activity I had done in 6 months, upon walking..I was exhausted and felt like I was going to pass out, it is not an easy trail. But it was well worth it! Even after sunset and close to dark it was so stunning.
There are roots and small rocks scattered around, so it’s a good idea to bring sneakers with grippy soles or hiking boots. You definitely have to watch your step.

Beautiful scenery. Limited parking. Well marked trails.

nice trail lots of rocks. nice view...

The view at the top was worth the Hike! My wife and I enjoyed it!

A fun trail, moderately steep in a few places, great views at several points along the trail and at the top.

could still see the top by driving to it. but the walk up was 100% worth the climb. but if you don't want to climb up the rock face you can still see the veiws.

It felt more like a climb than a hike at points, but we still enjoyed it. The views were spectacular! Bring a lunch to enjoy at the top.

Kind of a weird feeling climbing up and then running into an asphalt road... Not nearly as rewarding as the Megunticook climb, but still pretty nice view when you get to the top. It can get confusing, especially when you get to the road, but still a lot of relatively stable land

Lots of rocky pathways and mostly horizontal. If you're coming from Megunticook, it's mostly downhill. Be careful with descending, it's easy to trip and fall. Still, the rocks are great and as long as you take it slow there is tons of awesome foliage to check out.

The ocean lookout view is incredible. Pretty tiring walk for a new hiker, but still very rewarding. The actual summit doesn't have much of a view, but it's extremely quiet and very serene. There are so many areas to go from the top, so many different trails and paths.

Great hike, lots of fun. Camden is an awesome place

I think this a moderate to hard trail. lots if trails to access different areas of the mountain side. Each has their own level of difficulty. well worth the effort for the views. Gorgeous!

The views are well worth it!

Great reward of a view at the top, not too many views throughout the hike. The last part of the the hike is on the road, wish it took you all the way up. Fairly easy though tiring hike up the mountain. Did this hike with 1 adult and 2 kids under 10.

gorgeous views at the top. worth the hike.

four of us, kids 9 & 10 and a tibetian terrier did the hike in a few hours. a good trail, nice views, moderate traffic, but everyone friendly

Great beautiful hike!!

Beautiful views. Definitely returning for autumn and winter hiking!

Love this trail system. Well-worn trails, well marked, great for family hiking.

Gorgeous views of Camden Harbor, Penobscot Bay, and the surrounding mountains. Cool stone tower.

Tons of hiking options here. Great trail network. impressive views!

Excellent hiking trail network. The trail options here seem endless.

Went up with 3 adults and 5 kids. It was a great hike with a rewarding view at the top. Some steep areas, but if you take your time is no big deal. Plenty of rocks and roots so make sure to wear appropriate shoes. We will definitely be going here again!
