Beautiful views along the ocean! Passes right by Thunder Hole and some other significant stops in the park. Flat trail and suitable for all ages! As far as ocean views went, it was some of the best in the park.

awesome views and well set up to make the technical stuff easy.

Beautiful trail. We are from NJ so our coast line is mostly sand beaches. We really appreciate the beautiful rocky coastline in Maine. The hike was easy with such great views.

Very fun trail that seemed to be dog friendly as many other folks had theirs with them. Plenty of amazing spots to take pictures on the rocks. Thunder hole is well worth the trip. BE ADVISED: the best time to hear it is 2 hours before high tide!!! Check the weather as the fog can overtake most of the ocean and make pictures difficult

We thought this was super fun because we got off the trail and hiked most of it on the rocks. There were several spots where you had to go back to the trail to be safe, and hiking on the rocks can be dangerous if you aren’t careful. But the hike was so much more fun from the rocks.

We liked it so much we hiked it twice! This was tons of fun and we highly recommended it. There is a warning sign at the beginning of the trail that says you need sturdy shoes and not to bring your dogs. I highly recommend obeying those rules.

Great challenge for new climbers or out of shape adults. Wonderful views the entire climb. Wouldn’t recommend for children under 10 without experience in climbing.

As a mild acrophobic, this trail was daunting... but definitely doable! It can be challenging when there are people going slowly in front of you, and others rushing you from behind, but just go at your own pace. The views at the top are so with it. PLEASE do not descend on the side of of the loop containing metal rods. It really creates a hazard for those making their way up! Easy descent.

This hike is home to some of the most beautiful views that Acadia has to offer: gorgeous cliffs, rushing, blue waters, sea birds, and unique shorelines. The trail itself is easily walkable, with lots of deviating paths that allow you to explore the breathtaking cliff-side views. It is very heavily trafficked, though, especially around Thunder Hole. Parking can be a challenging. Also, there is not a lot of shade. I had minor heat exhaustion by the end of it. I did find a nice spot to dip my feet in the chilled water, which helped.

Incredible trail & incredible view, definitely not for beginners, but believe me, it's not that long. If you're afraid of heights like me, just keep your eyes forward and upwards, it'll be over before you know it. Those metal rungs are limitlessly helpful. Loved it!

Don’t go if afraid of heights - not easy to turn around. Definitely go up, not down. Trail down to park loop road more rocky, required some scrambling.

I enjoy this trail all year, especially in the evening hours when the trail is less crowded (mainly during summer and fall seasons). If you want to get off the trail, you can enjoy the many, many viewing points, as well as hiking along the rocky shoreline or connecting to other mountain climbing trails. Well worth the trip.

So much fun! I’m in meh shape and made it up just fine. People who are scared of heights may want to think twice about this one. Go up early to miss the crowds (before 8am). Only the first part of the hike going to the top is difficult, the rest of the trail is fairly easy. Would go again in a heartbeat.

Did this second time as we don’t want to take chances with the rain/thunderstorms. After hiking one way, it started pouring but the views of the ocean are incredible as they are preparing for the storm.

Fun climb

a beautiful walk alongside the ocean! you are right next to the road most of the time so it feels more like a sidewalk. even so, there are some great views! it can get a little congested on busy days. thunder hole is fun to climb around on but nothing crazy. it can be VERY crowded and if you’re not there at the perfect tide or with the perfect conditions, there is nothing really to see/hear. even so, it’s a beautiful spot but you shouldn’t expect too much. the gift shop is fun though!!!!

a super fun trail!! i would recommend getting on it early, i started at 5:30 and took me about 15 minutes to get to the top. it gets very crowded later in the day and it would take much longer to climb with a lot of people!! it’s a pretty easy hike, as long as you are in decent shape, you have good shoes, and you’re not afraid of heights, you can do it!!!!

This trail was AMAZING!! I am so glad I read the reviews first because the rating may have scared me off a bit. There were a few places that may have been a little intimidating but nothing to worry about!! The thrill of the hike was something I am so thankful for!! The people who put this together a long time ago knew what they were doing!! I would do this trail over and over again. Absolutely stunning views!!!
