Not very high elevation. Very twilight like

Super fun trail, my wife and I hiked it with our 60lb Georgia Brown Dog John Henry. We had a blast the trail is really well marked and has some really fun boulder scrambles along the way. There are also lots of the classic Acadia granite steps along the way. There was one small section John Henry struggled going down, but he made it with some coaching. It clocked in at 3.36 miles for us. We went clockwise, but I think either direction would be just as fun. This is one of my favorite mountain climbs I’ve done in Acadia, and it was lightly traveled today (maybe due to very few ppl being around because of the pandemic).

Beautiful views! We found a waterfall off of the trail for a peaceful break near the bottom of Acadia Mountain. You can see the islands off of Bar Harbor from the top in the sky-blue water. Kind of a tough trail for families, but perfect for a pair as the trails can get narrow and rocky at times. Totally worth it!

Well-kept carraige road trail with nice views and a challenging ride

My wife and I hiked this trail for the 1st time yesterday. Agree that doing the loop clockwise made for some excellent views on the was down. We've hiked a lot of trails in Acadia National Park, this is one of my favorites.

Great trail for a 2-3hr hike! We got there around 8:15am and it was almost completely empty. Hiked with dogs, and had to assist them a little on a couple of scrambles. Beautiful views and pretty amazing to climb up to the peak and then make it all the way down to the water! Agree with others that counter clockwise is the way to go.

Great hike with wonderful views of Somes Sound. Highly recommend going clockwise to get the views of the sound in front of you. We hiked with our two dogs and had to 'belay' them a number of times on the descent from Acadia mountain. They had harnesses so it wasn't much of an issue. We've been all over Acadia and my wife commented that this was one of her favorite hikes.

Fun rock scramble down Acadia. Views from top of Acadia were great.

We've avoided Acadia mountain for years because we heard that it was very difficult, especially with dogs. We kept saying you our selves "Where is the hard part?" The decent opposite from 102 could be difficult for some people, especially if you are going up that way with dogs. The side closest to 102 has steps at most of the steep inclines, but the opposite side has several scrambles, but most are not more than 8 to 10 feet at a time.

Great trail. Cool views of the harbor. Would definitely stay left (clockwise). Better views on way down

Beautiful views of the water

Really great hike! Recommend veering to left at the start of the hike and taking Acadia up at the sign. The hike up was mostly in the shade. There were some steep climbs but other than that, pretty doable. The views at the tops are stunning!! I recommended veering to the left (clockwise) because the way down was all views. Some very steep declines. Everything is well marked. couldn't recommend enough!

Rented bikes in Bar Harbor and then biked from the town past Eagle Lake to the Around The Mountain carriage road. Returned via Jordan Pond House and Bubble Pond. It’s 25 miles and lots of uphill with ups and downs in the middle. Total ascent is 1800 ft. Spectacular views all along the way!

Counter clockwise is highly recommended to pass the steepest sections while going up.
