Beautiful views!

It’s a great hike. Who cares if it’s short? Amazing views the whole way up and super fun to feel a little daring going up the iron rungs. Go early though to avoid other humans.

i love Beehive because you get a rungs and ladders experience that is thrilling, but it doesnt last that long. you can experience a sensation that you are really being risky without much of a risk! the tarn at the end is pretty outstanding, too. bring a picnic and a hammock and relax at the end of the hike!

Fun hike. A bit hard and scary but it was fun to do.

Fun hike; super hyped, really fast we kept hiking up to the lake near the bowl. Steep but not as challenging as we thought.

Hiked on 5/8/18, the day could not have been better. Everything that can be said about the Beehive has already been said - would do it again and again if I could.

Short but steep and technical. Not for anyone afraid of heights or not comfortable with using metal rungs.

Before hiking the trail I psyched myself out by reading too many reviews about the trail. It was honestly not bad at all. Just focus on the ladders and it’s not that hard or scary. The only part I felt any fear on the way up was when a group of teenagers decided to go backwards down the trail while I was on the rungs. Don’t go backwards down the trail you’ll be putting others lives at risk. Hit the trail early because it gets a bit easy. It’s a very quick hike to the top with awesome views the whole way.

Less hike, more climb. There is a point where you have gone far enough that it would probably be more unsafe to try and backtrack than to continue on. So go in knowing that.

Beautiful views, very exhilarating for those who don't frequently hug rock that high. Trek down after the summit a welcome break. 10/10 would climb again.

Lots of fun if you don’t mind climbing some steep sections with the help of iron rungs, and a couple of precarious sections along a cliff face. Great views all around.

Less of a hike and more of a climb. Lots of iron rungs with short horizontal ledges between. Lots of fun, but not one to do if you have a fear of heights.

the hike up was crazy, I can't say I've seen anything like it. a few moments had me pause and realize the vertical drop off the trail might be deadly but all the more excitement. the view at the top can not be beat! also the hike back is a lot easier.

Such a fun trail! Despite the short mileage, the “hard” rating is fair, as this hike is truly “nearly vertical.” Would not recommend this one on a wet or windy day. With that being said, the views are incredible, and the hike is awesome. Just did this one yesterday (4/3/18) and there was no snow or ice on the climb up, just a little snow in the woods on the way back down. Highly recommend!

One of my very favorite trails on mdi. This is not an easy trail especially if you are scared of heights. But let me tell you the views are worth every step.

It is not advised to hike down this trail, only up because of the iron rungs , then you can go down around the bowl, even connect to the beehive if your feeling real froggy and walk the mile back to your car on the tar or catch the bus back to the parking area.

One of my favorite hikes in Acadia. If hiking in the busy summer season I encourage you to go early in the day to avoid the crowds. If you are afraid of heights your going to want to take your time and not feel rushed. The views of sand beach are spectacular.

Great hike and had a beautiful day to do it. The hike is very flat then up to the top requires some moderate scramble. I gave this a five but would have rated it only as moderate or a "4 star" had I not combined it with a hike up and over Pemetic Mountain. It doubles the miles and height. I did it clockwise meaning the sun was to my back as I climbed up Bubble Rock, which made the pictures back to the ocean less ideal by midday. If you start in the north you can make the Jordan Lake House a midway point which is a great place to get popovers and then continue.

Amazing views and worth it. Metal bars as holds in the steeper traverses and a well marked path guiding you to the summit are very helpful.

Fun hike - includes a lot of steep climbs using metal bars fixed in the rocks. About 30 minutes each way

I highly recommend doing this trail it has amazing views and is by far worth it.

Went on this trail a few years ago.
Had a great time and can't wait to do it again :)

The views were spectacular! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is afraid of heights. You'll be climbing and walking on trails where you can look over the edge and think: "If I fell right here, I would not survive". With that said, there is no reason you should fall unless you're doing something dumb. ;)

A hike that is more like a climb. Great during the dry seasons, before the snow and ice hit. I don’t believe this trail would be possible to complete in rain, snow, or extreme wind.

Technical skills not required, but willingness to climb some scary-looking spots is key!

Amazing views and steep climbs, but pretty short.

Pretty short hike with breathtaking views along the way. There are steep drops along the way with a fair amount of exposure. I did not think it was too scary, but people who are scared of heights might want to take it slow on this hike.

Favorite hike in Acadia!’

Great hike/climb, definitely one of the harder trails in Acadia.

Absolute must hike if you are planning a trip to Acadia. If you can climb a ladder or steep staircase you MUST do the beehive.

amazing

Love this trail! It’s like a jungle gym on steroids. Sadly, the day we did it was foggy so not much view, but we still loved it.
