You can take Hadlock Brook trail on the return as an alternative.

Definitely not a trail for dogs or kids. Very tough hike but worth it.

Sargent mountain was stunning! Both were great hikes and views. Jordan cliffs were closed so we had to do the loop backwards which wasn’t bad.

This is important: If you follow the "Around the Mt." signs, you will walk only 12.8 Miles. It is also called the Carriage road, The trailhead is just behind the Jordan Pond House. PM me for any question.

3 star review only because of the terrain. We hiked the North Ridge and finished by continuing on the South Ridge. Not accustomed to walking on solid granite all day. Overall, views are great, love Bah-Hawbah, but will spend more time in other parts of the island should we visit again.

We have hiked most of the Acadia trails at this point, and we thought this was the hardest (although we haven't done Beehive or Precipice to compare it with). It had rained the day before, so some of the wet spots may have added to the challenge. The reviewers who say it's harder for short people and for people afraid of heights are right, I think, since I'm both and I definitely struggled with a few spots. We think it's hard, not moderate. Summited Penobscot, then back on the Penobscot trail to Jordan Pond for under 4 miles. Beautiful views, fun scrambles, pretty forest and brook crossings. A sign said it's closed weekdays for renovations.

Amazing trail architecture on North Ridge and South Ridge is just beautiful views half the way down. Incredible with the exception of tons of people on the summit.

This loop tested us a bit today and more like 5.5mi when it was done. Great views throughout and a variety of terrain. The initial ascent builds slowly but surely and the first mental test when we reach the cliff. Props to the trail elves who are doing a great job benching. There were no real pucker moments but consequences are real and short sections where hand holds were appreciated. The climb up to Mt Sargent is for real and takes you to 1373’. Rock work was superb with well placed stones and lots of stairway. The views on the way down Penobscot were awesome with the weather we had. Lunch at the Pond House was off the wall good for food service and location. This place is a gem. Great loop and highly recommended to those of moderate fitness. Make sure to have a Pondhouse “Popovers” before you leave

Rented bikes in Bar Harbor and then biked from the town past Eagle Lake to the Around The Mountain carriage road. Returned via Jordan Pond House and Bubble Pond. It’s 25 miles and lots of uphill with ups and downs in the middle. Total ascent is 1800 ft. Spectacular views all along the way!

Superbe sentier. On obtient des points de vue superbes. Mes enfants de 8 et 9 ans ont bien suivi le rythme :montée, descente, plat... Mais il est très rocailleux.

Easy to moderate. Excellent views on the south trail. Amazing scenery. Recommend and would do again.

This is my all time favorite trail on the island! Great views at the top, a fee scenic overlooks on the way up, and nothing too difficult! ( My daughter did it when she was 5) The biggest plus is bathrooms and ice cream at the summit!

A great trial with some amazing views. The only real issue I had was the alltrails filter said it was good for dogs, which it is, but there are some tricky spots to navigate if you have a large breed that might be difficult to climb down some of the rocks.
