We did this as part of the Wild Azalea Trail Blitz. This was the track the “long hike” group took. The was a treat of Severe weather and tornadoes. The weather was perfect and the group of 10 had a good time

Very fun trail for hiking and trail running. I've done it twice already. My GPS measured it at just shy of 16 miles. Fairly wide at most points so they spider webs are kept to a minimum and you are almost always by a body of water so it's cool and relaxing. Halfway mark goes through the recreational area so you can take a break by the lake if you want. Just watch out for boar. I saw about 25 last trip

Great moderate trail. Cool clear creek about 2 miles in that made for excellent exploration for the kids. Nothing like the feeling of creek sand between your toes. Can be muddy in the bottoms but it’s not anything to complain about.

This loop starts at Evangeline Camp hiking west - right at Lamotte Creek left on Kincaid Loop left on Wild Azalea Spur left on Wild Azalea back to Evangeline Camp.

Very runnable and very well marked. Rooty but Not terribly technical. Nice wide trails and well maintained. I followed only yellow blazes for 4.75 miles out and back. I wanted to keep going but was limited on time. Not too much elevation on my route, although hilly enough to slow you down a bit. Loved it and will be back!!

Great day. Trail is in hood condition despite recent rain. Campground closed due to government shutdown.

I’m sure the loop would be a nice hike, but this site says nothing about turning off the trail onto another trail to make the loop. We ended up 8 miles into the woods following the azalea trail that is not a loop. Sheriff department rescued us after dark on what ended up being a 12 mile hike to the far end of the azalea trail and a 15 mile drive back to our vehicles.

Good trail here. I'm not sure why this is rated easy when 9 miles of the trail is Kincaid Loop which is rated moderate. The correct path is Wild Azalea -> Lamotte Trail -> Kincaid Loop. I'm not sure what Lamotte is rated but I would guess it's probably moderate. All in all, you complete Lamotte Trail (twice) and fully complete Kincaid Loop. Kincaid Loop is where it got tough for us. We did 10 miles one day, camped, and then hiked out the next day. Good test for myself and my brother, both beginner hikers.

Perfect trail for beginners. Great views of kincade reservoir.

spend a few hours walking the trail on this rainy day. trail is beautiful this time of year!

Great lollipop loop in Kisatchie. It will give you a taste of what all the trails in Cenla have to offer. Great views of Kincade Lake , hills of pine trees , hardwood bottoms and clear-cold water creeks. Well marked.

Hiking Louisiana

Saturday, December 23, 2017

Nice easy hike. Came on the off season so it was extremely quiet! Definitely coming back for more.

Super great trail! Beautiful scenery and some good inclines to hike up even for a trail in Louisiana!

Fantastic trail with great views. Good for backpacking and camping off on your own, or day hiking. Lots of elevation changes, but not too tough. You share the trail with mountain bikers, but I haven't had any problems with it. I simply step aside. Very peaceful in the off season (Jan, Feb) I've not gone any other time.

Did it one day. Nice hike with a lot of changes in elevation. Kinda a rollercoaster. Also a ton of blind curves and short sight lines. Hikers stay alert. I had 6 mountain bikes come up on me really fast. Would not recommend earphones. Bikers, put a bell or something that makes noise on your bikes, please.

The beginning of the trail was not well marked. However, the rest of the trail was well marked and easily followed. The trail goes around Kinkaid Lake with very nice views of the Lake. Part of the trail passes through a camping area that is available on the Lake. The camping area is pleasant and comfortable. The trail also can connect to the rest of the Wild Azalea Trail for a longer hike if desired.
