Great variety of wildflowers

Just meh.

The overlook at the river is beautiful, The rest of the trail is dull and you never get out of earshot of the road noise. It says this is a good spot to see eagles, no luck for us today though.

super easy trail to hike

A fun must-see feature if you're visiting Mammoth Cave! Trail has enough grade to provide a bit of a workout without being obnoxious, and has some excellent scenery in the bottom of the sink. We took the right side of the loop and went counterclockwise. This delayed the appearance of some of the better views, and is probably the best way to do it. Grade in is downhill, with the steepest part being exiting the sink. Several sets of steel stairs there, so footing/safety isn't a problem. Would do it again!

easy trail for adults may be challenging for young children under 8 because of the stairs. not much to see at the beginning however it's relaxing and as you go further it surprises you. loved this trail was a fun walk.

Really unique hike to see a sinkhole where a subterranean river makes a brief appearance before going back underground. Lots of stairs, and may not be suitable for those afraid of heights.

Great for anyone

Very grown up in the summer

Easygoing

Great in the spring

Great easy hike

Nice trail partially paved then rock. Got to see the old entrance to the cave, takes you right along the river for some nice views of it as well.

Great easy trail for the kids

Short. Easy. Interesting read.

short but enjoyed relaxing around pond

Great hike for a day when the humidity kept us from doing a more strenuous hike. It's just "wild" enough that my 7yo hiking buddy felt that he was lost in the woods.

Next time I hike here, I'm going to bring a bag to pick up garbage. There wasn't a lot, but any is more than I'm used to seeing on Mammoth Cave trails.

Great trail and accessible for wheelchairs!

This is a decent, short trail that was great for a short walk with our son. Wear plenty of bug screen!

Short loop trail that seemed longer than .5 miles. Interesting rock formations.

Short loop trail. Do it at dawn or dusk for a frog serinade.

had a blast on this trail. it was me and 2 friends with 6 kids (8, 6, 6, 5, 2, 1) we had a great time! loved the side trails! we ended up hiking 3 miles since we explored all the side trails. (all the kids walked the entire thing except the 1 yr old. i had her in a carrier the entire time)

Rated moderate for distance but not a difficult hike. The trail is well maintained and horses are not allowed on most of the trail unlike other areas of the park. You will need to park at the Maple Springs trailhead where there are toilets and picnic benches. The first mile is a connector trail to the Big Hollow trailhead which is mixed use for mountain biking and horseback riding. The Big Hollow portion consists of 2 loops joined in the middle by a connector trail which is great if you decide to make it a shorter hike. We encountered only 6 people on a Spring weekend with great weather.
