Nicely maintained, well-marked and fairly wide Land Between the Lakes trail. Large, safe parking area. 4/5s of the hike is an enjoyable, but sort of routine, walk in the woods. A lot of spider webs, so grab a stick. I did the loop clockwise. After about 1.25 miles, you emerge onto the shorelines of Lake Barkley and Honker Lake. Nice water views. I saw several deer and beavers. The final two miles look like they could be seasonally marshy, but there are bridges over the inlets and low spots. The entire trail is dry and hard-packed in summer. A few gentle climbs with some improved steps. Nothing technical. Recorded distances vary because of marginally different routes back to the parking lot and/or nature center. Roughly 4.5-4.8 miles r/t. Worth it.

Beautiful trail!

I completed the entire trail over two trips (3 days total) which was slightly ambitious of me. The southern third was quick and easy hiking as it was mostly flat. The northern half was more hilly but not terribly difficult. There are not a lot of good places to camp unless it’s an area where you cross a campground that is road accessible. Unfortunately, the trail is not kept up in a lot of areas. There are a few questionable bridges and quite a bit of bush-wacking that occurred. I thankfully had this app or there were a few places I am sure I would have gotten lost. I also wish there were more views. If it had been more “wet” I feel like there would have been more stream crossings instead of dry creek-beds. There are no hill-too views either, but some decent lake views in the northern section.

I have been riding this trail for over 20 years. It is a fast trail with some good jumps and bigger hills to the south and quick rolling hills to the north. We love it!

Ran this for the first time last Sun. Had no problem following the trail and enjoyed the loop greatly

nice easy trail to start hiking on.

Unfortunately the lake was very stagnant making the views “Ok”. Did love all the water lily....made it a worthwhile hike. Unfortunately couldn’t do the full loop due to the connecting path being destroyed by storms

Really enjoyed this trail. Especially liked the beaches by the lakes, great place to stop and have a snack while enjoying the views.

Had a fun hike with my son today today! Would up doing 5.3 miles... A hot day but great exercise none the less...

Had a good time with my son! Easy and fun! Got 1.5 miles into the hike and got turned around by workers rebuilding the boardwalk! Said it was too dangerous to go any further... I mentioned a sign would have been nice... they said someone tore the signs down and they needed to put more up... I was thinking maybe you could have done that on your way out but I didn’t... they were nice guys! A 2.6 mile hike turned into a 2.9 Hike and had fun...

Spent 2 nights on the trail. Nothing super awesome about it but perfect for a weekend getaway. Everything was pretty well marked and navigation was easy.

2 July 2018. I did the Bear Creek Loop Trail with my 10 year old grandson as a warm up for a trip to Washington state for a week of hiking. The route was about seven miles. Worst hike I have ever done. Riddled with spider webs across the path, big and tiny ticks of every sort and poorly marked through portions. If you do the hike, don't be the first one on the trail and you won't have a problem with the webs. If you are the first, then plan on an encounter ever fifth step. Recommend doing the trail Counterclockwise. The trail head for the counterclockwise direction is next to some picnic benches by the parking lot. if you complete the loop you will enter a number of planted field where there are scads of tics. Long pants and spray are a must for this trail. Funny enough we had no trouble with mosquitos. Note there are numerous connecting trails along this loop and double naming of the sections, so be sure to pick up a decoding map at the South Visitor Station before you leave. you will need it along the route. Finally, Forest Service Road 230 bridge is out so you can not drive to the start of the other trail heads in the area.

Nice easy trail with good waterside views. Completed in early May, a couple patches were a bit marshy with moderate mud, but the vast majority of the trail was easily accessible and dry. A fair bit of ticks were encountered so dress appropriately and be sure to check yourself afterwards.

boardwalk currently very rough. torn up by a storm. still possible not very smooth.

There are dozens of awesome trails here. All Trails doesn't show all of them. Get on LBL's website and get the map. I've posted a picture on here of my map.

Great trail, I logged it as 4.8 miles, not sure about the disparity with AllTrails. Beautiful forest with dogwood and redbud blooms, and of course the serenity of Honker Bay.

Always loved this trail. Been going every summer with my kids for 10 years. One of our favorites.

Trail is littered with trash. Downed trees and washed out portions.

Nice and easy. Bit muddy after the rain but that’s to be expected. Lake views.

Beatiful trail with streams and babbling brooks abounding. Moderately difficult with some short sections of elevation gain.

A beautiful trail, often takes you along the edges of the lakes. You have it all to yourself. Seldom used. Especially in winter. Just prepare seriously for the ticks in the warm seasons.

Lovely trail! Super easy stroll. The trail does get a bit muddy but is easily bypassed.

Great campground and easy walking trail.

The trails are decently maintained and the creek is almost always running along the trail. There aren’t many sights along the way, or variation of elevation. A good place to mountain bike or for beginning trail runners to practice. The historical significance of the area is appealing, but there aren’t many physical representations to commemorate the area.

a chance to see different terrain, from lakeside to heavy wooded area. Overall nice trail.
