Green River Lake State Park opened in 1969 contains 1,331 acres along with the 8,200-acre lake. The park has many attractions for those who love nature and wish to experience the beauty that is Kentucky.

Hiked here on a Tuesday afternoon saw a few cars parked at the trailhead but no one on the trail. The trail become much harder to follow after “the point” and we ended circling back the way we came. I suspect had we started to the right and did the loop counter clockwise it might have been easier. There were lots of unmarked bike trails and other hiking trails intersecting that led to the confusion. The lake views were wonderful though and there were some stairstep rock formations that led right down to the waters edge for parts of it (great for dipping your toes in). Lots of litter on the trail unfortunately. Would bring a bag to pack some out with me if I return.

I would not say this is an easy trail, but it is definitely on the easy side of moderate. It is fairly downhill to the water and fairly uphill coming back, of course. Nice views at waters edge, but other than that, it is just a good, short hike in the woods.

Nice trail! Been on 4 different trails so far, & this one is my favorite. It was very easy, the paths where very visible. Would’ve liked to have been able to see the lake from the trail & there were areas that were very muddy as well.

Nice area. Lake is beautiful. Lost the trail at one point but was able to find it again easily enough after half an hour or so. Not well marked but again, easy enough to figure it out. Be sure to walk out onto "The Point" for an amazing view of the lake and a great spot to have lunch.

nice trail needs a little maintenance.

nice views casual hike

This is a beautiful trail with awesome lake views! We did in the first we of October and the leaves were beginning to change. There are several spots where you can wander out on the cliffs and one where you can get down to the water. The only thing that would make it better if it was a little more clearly marked. I was able to figure it out, but there are mountain bike trails that weave throughout that make it a little unclear at times.

This is my favorite trail in Green River Lake State Park. Beautiful lake views. It's an easy pretty well maintained trail. Moderately trafficked.

this, along with many other trails at green river lake are really nice although not well marked. we started out 3 or 4 times before we got on the right trail. so we ended up completing 2 or 3 other short trails as well. we did see some deer and a hawk and met a few people on horseback on one of the trails. all in all, it was a very nice day and a nice hike update: there are several other trails over by the dam and the dike. these are a couple of miles each and make for some good hiking around the lake and the spillway.

Green River's trails are fun to explore... I rarely stick to the trail, because of the beautiful scenery in the forest and next to the cliffs. Full of deer and other critters. Recommended!
