Not bad for a trail inside the city. There was some traffic noise in the distance during the entire hike, but once you get away from the train trestle, you no longer see any man made structures or roads. Be mindful of the trail conditions. I found people hiking and mountain biking when I arrived, and the gate to the trail was open, but a park ranger left a note on my vehicle stating that I was subject to arrest for being in the park because the city had closed the backcountry trails due to trail conditions.

Not bad...

Neat and clean, well maintained.

Dense forest with trails mostly catering to mountain bikers. Actually makes for a nice place to hike since anyone passing by bike will be out of sight quickly. Devou-tion is quite steep and I saw no one on this seciton as opposed to being passed probably 5 times on the other sections.

Not a bad trail loop. We had two kids with us, and it was easy for our 7 year old. There were mostly bikers, so I don’t think we will be visiting again. Not much scenery except some trees, which are nice, but not worth going back for. Overall, it was a nice hike; it tracked us as only going 2.9 miles, so a little off from the 3.5 listed here. We just probably won’t be going back.

Too many bikers. Not a lot of scenery. Was a great trail to get the heart rate up but had to share with a lot bikers and runners. Went on a Saturday morning though so that may have had something to do with it.

To our surprise, there was a nice creek right off of this trail that held a TON of cast off old bricks and rusty old railroad ties, etc. Instead of searching for fossils like we typically do, we were able to find unique, historic stamped bricks. Highly recommend!

I was very disappointed in this trail. The signage is nonexistent (look at my photos to see the poles but no signage). Also the trail is very rocky so you have to watch every step or you’ll twist an ankle.

Mileage is incorrect. We did 4.2 and didn’t do all of it. Trails are incorrectly and confusingly marked. Be sure to take a photo of the trail map. You’ll need it because the names on the signs are wrong coming down. Not good for kids. Hike up is fairly steep. Loop trail at the top is mostly flat and lovely. I can imagine on weekends this trail is packed with bikes. I saw several on a Thursday! The trails are good but narrow. All in shade except very beginning.

Trail was rated appropriately. There’s not a lot to look at though and there were only bikes on the trail. No other hikers. I wouldn’t recommend for hiking when there lots of other great trails in the area that are for hikers only.

Enjoyed hiking the Nice trails
Well maintained
Variying degrees of elevation
Cold weather hiking cures Cabin fever

I go with my dog all the time because I can hike there. kudos to the volunteers who maintain the trails.

Afternoon Trek - Devou Park Back Country Bike/Hike Trails: Visiting Ohio, staying in Cincinnati - Started out at trail head near (old) baseball diamond at border of Covington, Ludlow, KY. From trail head went up “incinerator.” Crossed over on “Bates-Coombs Loop.” After loop, went back to “Incinerator.” From there, all the way up to “Pigs Tail;” then, crossed-over on to “Back Bowl” then, down on “Trail of Devou-tion.” “Devou-tion” was a difficult path compared to the other ones I took (also, “one-way”). Ended trek pretty much where I started. The old incinerator is pretty cool - nice graffiti. So is the older train trestle bridge. The trails are well-maintained, in good condition. Bikers were very courteous. Few if any bikers / hikers day of my visit. Well-worth a visit if you’re not from here...

Started out at trail head for John Volz Nature Trail in the upper part of Devou Park in Covington, KY. Trail is very pretty, easy to navigate until you reach area where cement walking path, steps start. There, you may encounter some low-hanging overgrowth, deteriorating steps. Going down path is easy (fair slope); going up seems harder (incline). Kind of wandered around a lot (looking at path on AllTrails); just wanted to get by band shell, see some of parks pretty spots like lookout point. Friend has niece who paints rocks; left one on trail (see photo). Few if hikers or even walkers day of my visit. Well-worth a visit if you’re not from here...

The day I visited it was VERY muddy and slippery - so much that it limited my ability to enjoy the hike. We also thought trail signs were a bit confusing.

Nice trails. Definitely more suited for trail bikes but signs offer requirements to give way to hikers. Everyone very courteous on trails. Found myself standing aside with my dog in patches of poison ivy quite often. I'm not allergic but my son is so my dog got a bath that night. Something to keep in mind. Long socks if you are allergic.

Actually Trail Running. Great Hills. Challenging terrain. Solid system for Trail Running.

Awesome place to hike with dogs. Only thing is watch out for the bicyclists! they can come around those corners pretty fast!

Best mountain bike trails in Cincinnati area, good variety of technical and cross country.

Took my dogs there on Sunday. Really enjoyed it although I got lost. The bikers seem extremely irritated to see a walker on the trail, even though I did my best to get out of their way (we are allowed there ya know!). Very nice walk. Will go back.

Several different trail options here, and very fun to go to. Also, the trail is very well spaced out, along with the train tracks hovering above the entrance. Great time!

Perfect weather not hot! Not difficult

Great trail that is marked very well. There are a lot of mountain bikers. I would recommend this trail. 4.7 miles in just over two hours.

Good walk

definitely works your legs out it took us 2 hrs to complete had a lot of fun

It was a lot of fun! We took a the trail and it wasn't overly strenuous at all. We took a wrong path and came out on a golf course, but were able to find the road and our car. Perfect for a small little adventure with friends.
