Afternoon Trek - Devou Park Back Country Bike/Hike Trails: Visiting Ohio, staying in Cincinnati - Started out at trail head near (old) baseball diamond at border of Covington, Ludlow, KY. From trail head went up “incinerator.” Crossed over on “Bates-Coombs Loop.” After loop, went back to “Incinerator.” From there, all the way up to “Pigs Tail;” then, crossed-over on to “Back Bowl” then, down on “Trail of Devou-tion.” “Devou-tion” was a difficult path compared to the other ones I took (also, “one-way”). Ended trek pretty much where I started. The old incinerator is pretty cool - nice graffiti. So is the older train trestle bridge. The trails are well-maintained, in good condition. Bikers were very courteous. Few if any bikers / hikers day of my visit. Well-worth a visit if you’re not from here...

Started out at trail head for John Volz Nature Trail in the upper part of Devou Park in Covington, KY. Trail is very pretty, easy to navigate until you reach area where cement walking path, steps start. There, you may encounter some low-hanging overgrowth, deteriorating steps. Going down path is easy (fair slope); going up seems harder (incline). Kind of wandered around a lot (looking at path on AllTrails); just wanted to get by band shell, see some of parks pretty spots like lookout point. Friend has niece who paints rocks; left one on trail (see photo). Few if hikers or even walkers day of my visit. Well-worth a visit if you’re not from here...

The day I visited it was VERY muddy and slippery - so much that it limited my ability to enjoy the hike. We also thought trail signs were a bit confusing.

Nice trails. Definitely more suited for trail bikes but signs offer requirements to give way to hikers. Everyone very courteous on trails. Found myself standing aside with my dog in patches of poison ivy quite often. I'm not allergic but my son is so my dog got a bath that night. Something to keep in mind. Long socks if you are allergic.

Awesome place to hike with dogs. Only thing is watch out for the bicyclists! they can come around those corners pretty fast!

Best mountain bike trails in Cincinnati area, good variety of technical and cross country.

Took my dogs there on Sunday. Really enjoyed it although I got lost. The bikers seem extremely irritated to see a walker on the trail, even though I did my best to get out of their way (we are allowed there ya know!). Very nice walk. Will go back.

Several different trail options here, and very fun to go to. Also, the trail is very well spaced out, along with the train tracks hovering above the entrance. Great time!

It was a lot of fun! We took a the trail and it wasn't overly strenuous at all. We took a wrong path and came out on a golf course, but were able to find the road and our car. Perfect for a small little adventure with friends.

A little confusing at first. There are really short trails right off of the parking area at Devou Park. Once we got our bearings it was great, though!

Beautiful scenery and a challenging trail at times. Plus a wonderfully creepy run-down incinerator at the trail head. Great place to hike.

We had a great time on this hike. Just watch out for bikers! We started the loop from the entrance by the creepy abandoned building and just stayed to the left to complete the whole 4.6. Great views on the backside facing the city during fall.

rode these trails for the first time a few weeks ago and was completely impressed!... CORA has a real gem here...

The trail consists of a series of eight trails that create a few different loops. The only real difficulty to the trail is weather conditions, especially mud after raining. More than 50% of the trail gets overly muddy with little to no rock or gravel to help find a foothold. Combine that with small but steep inclines and washed out switchbacks the trail seems more appropriate for mountain bikers than hikers when it has been raining.

Not very scenic. The trail was very well maintained, but not very well marked. Possibly they could offer maps at the trail entrance?
