I took my six and nine year old children with me, and we all loved it. They took off their shoes and walked in the stream at the end.

This is a good day trail for testing out equipment or preparing for a larger hike or just a good day hike. As others have mentioned it is a shared horse trail so there are sections that can be very muddy and rutty. Trail is moderate difficulty only due to the uphills. The outer loop is 3.4 miles but there are options to cut that short and hike a shorter distance if needed. Trail is well cleared and there are several options inside the loop. Be prepared that there is a creek crossing to get to the main trail intersection just on the other side of the creek so you're feet may get wet during wet season. Creek never seems to be more than 6" or so year round at the crossing area. I have taken my younger children before with no issues. NOTE: The location of the trail identified in the map on this website is NOT Middle Creek Two Loops trail, this is actually the trail head for Boone Cliffs trail which is a more difficult but shorter loop hike through Boone Cliffs. The trailhead and parking area for Middle Creek is west past the MIddle Creek Road turnoff, on the left side of the road just past the Dinsmore Homestead.

Went out on the trail today and was pleasantly surprised with how nice it was. Some parts were over grown but that sort of thing does not bother me. We ran into a local who showed us where a natural spring was. Over a great time.

Trails were well marked. Some trails were a bit over grown. Trails were muddy and there were many with large horse hoof prints. All in all it was a great trail.

Decent trails, somewhat maintained. In the wet season the lower parts can be messy due to the fact that these trails are also popular for horseback riding. They tend to leave a lot of ruts. It can be quite messy with thick mud. All in all a nice afternoon hike. Beautiful large sycamores and Beech trees as well...
