A nice hike, but muddy in places since we’ve had a few days of rain earlier in the week. I decided to add the Guerilla Hollow trail to this one. There is a sign about halfway through the Cull Hollow Loop that says “Trail” and points how to continue on. Right beside that is an unmarked connector that goes a short way up to the Guerilla Hollow loop. Doing both together is a little over 2 miles.

We really enjoyed this trail. Lots of cool things to see, including a old silo, lots of mushrooms, unique shaped trees and a creek bed that you hike along for a good bit. I didn’t really find this trail too difficult. Couple of steep hills to climb (no matter which way you choose at the fork). Rocks and tree roots along most of the trail. To find the trailhead you follow the signs to the fire tower, it a one way loop road and the trailhead/parking is on the left. It shares with a few other trails. You’ll hike down a road just a bit and see the actual sign for this hike on the left! We clocked around 6 miles through my Apple Watch but did venture off trail a little bit! A great hike and one I would recommend!

This was the most poorly maintained and marked trail I've probably ever been on. I hiked it with two others, we had a map, I hike a lot, and we got lost a ton. Maybe it would be easier to stay on the trail in the summer and spring when leaves aren't covering the ground. It was well-marked in some places, but in other places, we could not find the triangle blazes to save our life. If I had attempted the trail on my own, I would have had to turn back after a few miles due to not knowing where to go. There were TONS of huge trees down blocking the trail, which required hiking off-trail through thick brambles and other brush. It didn't seem like the trail had been maintained in years, in my opinion. They also lock the gate to the trailhead parking area at 4:30, so make sure you start early. It took our group 6 hours and 42 minutes and we were hiking fairly fast...It probably would have taken 6 hours if we hadn't gotten lost and felt like we were hiking "off-trail" for a majority of the trail. It was definitely a good work-out and challenge though. The trail should be rated "difficult" on AllTrails, not moderate, and it's 13.75 miles in length. We took the trail counter-clockwise.

If you get lost on this trail you need to stay indoors. Very well marked. Two good uphill sections.

This is a favorite to take my young kids on . They love feeding the turtles. Most of it isn't shaded so it can get hot during the middle of the day during the summer but most of the time it's pleasant.

Description is accurate. It’s a favorite of mine now.

Good trail.

Good trail but the markings could be a lot better!! If doing the trail counter clockwise your left hand turn is about 50 yards from the trail head!!!

This is a short trail, but with plenty of trees and dirt pathways. It is close to several of the roads in Bernheim so you can hear and see cars at times when they pass. I did see several butterflies while on this trail around some of the dead trees. I love taking my 3 year old on this trail. It’s not too long for him to start complaining, but it’s in the woods enough to feel like a hike.

The trail is great, but O-my, the people here at Bernheim are absolutely wonderful.

The trail is rated as difficult, but I thought it was easy. It wasn't difficult what so ever.

We saw mushrooms, wild berries, toads, caterpillars.

Definitely easy, not moderate. Gorgeous lake views and colorful foliage in the fall. A fair amount of pokestops along the way.

There is currently a ton of blown downs. A few that required walking through thick thorn bushes to get around. Lots of ticks. My advice would be to wear pants on this one, until they get the trail cleared from the blow downs.

Gorgeous!! We go to Bernheim with our dogs often and this is my 2nd favorite trail. Good way to enjoy some Kentucky woods nearby Louisville

Hiked this trail a few weeks ago. My recommendation would be when you get to the fork in the trail go right which would be counter clockwise. I went left and encountered the part of the trail where you have to hike straight up the hill. It was a workout but a really nice trail. Plan to do it again.

it really is just a walk around a lake, but it's a beautiful walk and normally vear off this walk on to a small trail called sunny shade toward the end and it's also a cool hike, short though. lots of turtles and ducks to see on the lake walk and this is in bernhiem

fun trail

You will definitely get a good workout! Nice areas by the creek to relax. Lots of ticks found on our dogs after though so beware!

The trail is difficult due to mere length and elevation. Definitely challenging for me. Make sure you pay attention to the blazes. I plan on doing it again.

I took my 9 year old son and we both agree on 3 star rating. It’s a typical hike in Bernheim Forest. Well maintained trail. Trail passes a pond and a silo from mid 1800s residence. Trail also passes a creek you cross. A nice couple hours alone with your child and no video game. Location is easy to get to.

One of my favorites.

Easy to moderate trail. 3-4 hilly areas but not too bad. Old Silo on the trail. Overall a nice trail for a morning hike.

My favorite trail at Bernheim. The majority of it is pretty easy going but the hills will kick your butt, making this an enjoyable hike as well as a workout. Plenty of spots to sit on a rock or downed tree for a rest or snack as well as frequent access to the creek so bring a filter and you won't have to haul a bunch of water. Technically dogs need to be leashed but this is a good trail to bend that rule---no blind corners so you have plenty of time to see fellow hikers coming and leash your pup. Keep your eyes up and you might see a flying wild turkey!

All types of terrain!

My first trail hike in Kentucky (besides the underground Mamooth Caves visit). I hiked with a friend in March. It was nice, the landscape is beautiful but a bit monotonous. The trail is well maintained and plastic signs are nailed to some trees to keep you on the right path. There is a couple of long hilly ascents that will make you sweat a little bit. If you are interested in tree mushrooms there are plenty, and also lichens. Not particularly good for a picknik as there are virtually no spots where you could confortably sit but I guess the main idea is just to hike. There is a nice stream that was easy to crossed at the moment.

I hiked the trail clockwise in December. I started at 10am and finished just at 1630 when the ranger was closing the gate. I brought my hiking backpack, and a couple liters of water. I had to run at times when the trail was flat, to make sure I maintained my pace to be done by 1630. The trail was in good shape, there are some decent views. Nothing spectacular. It is definitely one of the harder trails in the area and requires that you are physically fit.

Awesome trail !! Would be excellent if you could camp in some designated areas overnight so you can take tour time and enjoy everything this place has to offer. WILL hike again.

This is not a moderated trail. Maybe if hiking, but certainly not if running. A lot of leaves are down right now in Jan so it makes foot placement difficult in avoiding the constant rocks on the trail. This run is great exercise so don't plan on running it for time.
