Very well kept trail, good place to condition for backpacking.

My go-to trails in the area. rocky, rooty, and varied.

Fun trail. My only criticism is the trail markers. They aren’t very specific to which trail you’re on, so if I hadn’t been mapping my hike with the all trails app I probably would have wandered off onto a different trail by mistake, possibly lengthening my hike by several miles. This was the case with a family I came across on the trail. Fortunately I was able to help them but they were headed in the completely wrong direction when they were trying to get back to their vehicle. I think if the trail markers said specifically which trail they were for it would be helpful.

A good hike that is surprisingly rural for how close you are to the suburbs. The hike down the dam is somewhat steep, but then the main loop is lots of flat fields.

On hot days, the sun could get rough. There are scattered groves of trees you go through (one has the crumbling remains of a stone building), but they are probably less than 30% of the trail.

Tons of birds, and if you want to explore close to Mill Creek on the West side you'll probably spot turtles and frogs. The train goes right by the creek every 20 minutes or so.

Good for hiking, not the best for mountain biking due to the quantity of loose rocks

the trail has gotten. little more challenging since I rode it a couple years ago. but, it was a great ride and I had lots of fun.

Loved all of the paved and forest trails! There is also a really awesome dog park here too!

Nice trail. Lots of people on a nice day though.

Used this trail for training for backpacking. Good trail not much elevation change.

Longest of the trails at smp. Nice hike. Rocky but not difficult.

Great trail

well marked. lots of pleasant miles available.

Very busy with lots of off leash pooches to greet you.

beautiful in the fall. well marked and easy to navigate.

Very nice trail for hiking. Suggest hiking shoes as it is rocky in parts.

We actually did the Orange, Gold, Red and Violet trails on this one hike. Very rocky throughout. Wear hiking boots for sure. And bring water!! Be careful of bikers in the narrow parts of the trail.

These trails are for mountain biking. If you look at the map at the trail head, it identifies them as biking trails. We hiked them because of the reviews here and found out quickly that they are too narrow for a biker to pass a hiker without said hiker having to step completely off the trail and into thick underbrush. The park is lovely, though, and there are much better places for people not on bicycles to have fun (including actual hiking and walking trails south of the lake.)

Challenging mtn bike trail for this middle aged newbie...and the paved walking path is close by...so lots of options in this entire park.

Beautiful little spot outside Kansas City. Lake, trails, kayak rentals.

Great trails, with good markings.

Violet and red trails are very techy with lots of jagged rocks. If you are someone who enjoys smooth flowey trails you won't enjoy red or violet trails. However, if you want to get your ass kicked and enjoy rocks and a challenge this will be right up your alley.

excellent trails!!.... I'm from Dallas and absolutely love all the trails.

This is a really nice park with good trails. Our only complaint is that it is always crowded. It's rare to have any length of trail to yourself...and it's pretty noisy. Good scenery though.

nice recreation area....plenty of trails......a lake , kayaking, boating. .....bring off...theres ticks

Did the red loop today, with the violet loop in & out so it was 6.0 miles per the AllTrails app. Started early, should have brought extra water. Loved the trail, nice and cool with plenty of shade. Good incline in a few places and easy descents. Will do it again with packs to train.

Love smp. My favorite trails are the violet loop near the corner of the lake and the trail to the right of the dog beach.

Good trail pretty flat and rocky

Rocky in parts but super fun!

Nice trails. There are lots of maps but I didn't think the trails were marked that well. It's getting to be spring and it brings out the green.
