Pokagon State Park is located near Angola off I-69. Natural lakes abound in this area and the park borders on Lake James and Snow Lake which offer abundant opportunities for boating, swimming and fishing. What a thrill! That's what you'll say once you've experienced the quarter mile toboggan track at speeds of 35-40 miles per hour! The toboggan operates weekends from the Friday after Thanksgiving through February, with extended holiday hours. The toboggan is open on Christmas Eve, but closed on Christmas Day.

Nice trail for beginners and scenery moderately skilled hikers. Easy if you are in shape and moderate if you tire easily. Beautiful Indiana scenery along the routes.

New Park leadership did conduct a control burn, we encountered a few logs still smoldering on the trip. Sunny with a slight breeze and the frogs were talking like crazy, great trail.

Had a great walk in trails 5,2, and 4. Trail 2 looks like a planned burn happened this week. Beautiful day.

A great winter walk along a snow covered trail that is paved on the northern half and dirt on the southern half.

Hiked this in the winter - well marked and groomed with a nice view of the water and lodge. Gently rolling terrain makes for some good exercise without wearing you out.

Brought in The New Year with The Hell’s Point Challenge, 8 Miles. Using most of the trails in the park. Check into The Nature Center for the map. Finish the challenge and they award you with a sticker and water bottle. Awesome New Years Day.

Went during late fall and the trees are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The rugged trial (9) is more just a lot of hills, so it’s definitely not a terribly hard hike, but it’s very peaceful and relaxing. There’s quite a bit to explore there as well.

One of my favorite places in Indiana to hike. It holds open meadows, lush forests, lakes, creeks, and lovely wildlife. I've never encountered much trail traffic, and it's a great place to go trail running.

Really beautiful. You don’t feel like you’re in Indiana.

Well marked trails, especially because as you enter the park (and pay $9 if you’re from out-of-state), you get a trail map. You can choose how long/short you want to hike. Nice stretches of shade and sun. A little buggy. Trails were well maintained.

Very solid trails. I’m not sure that it gets much better in flat Indiana. Trail 7 through the wetlands was very nice.

24 degrees and 2 “ of snow on the ground. Weekend. Still had quite a bit of traffic. Good walk not very challenging that many sites, but still enjoyable

Decent trails when you aren't crossing streets or walking through parking lots or shelter locations to get to the next secion of the trail. Wetlands were beautiful and walking along the lake was nice. Not very rugged at all.

Trail 3 & 6 were beautiful, moderate trails that led to Hell's point, a large viewing platform. Trail 9 was strenuous with a lot of steep hills, which would have been fine if there had been a nice view. Trail 9 led to a large pasture with no shade, that ran along the Indiana Toll Road...noisy, and not a nice view. I would skip trail 9 in future and replace it with trail 7 bluebird hill, which is also a loop back to trail 3.

Nice and generally peaceful hiking trails that are moderately rugged in terms of inclines. We did trails 3, 6, 9 and then 7. The trip up to Hell's Point on trail 9 is a moderate hike and it reaches a quiet spot at the top, but you can't really see much from the overlook due to trees. (Not a complaint, just an observation.) The trip down from the point uses stairs instead of a trail. If you do trail 7, note that it is mostly open meadow, so it's best to do that early in the day rather than in the blazing sun like we did. Most of the trails other than 7 seem to offer plenty of shade, but on 7 you are much more exposed to the elements.

Hiked for 6 hours. Trails were teeming with wildlife. Wetlands were superb! Every step was beautiful. Water refill stations were a major plus! Not busy at all, well marked and maintained, many maps along the trail and all 8 people I did run into were very nice! Would recommend and even though you have to pay to get in I will definitely be going back!
