trail running

Quite a bit of chewed up spots from horse traffic. And there were a few spots where I wasn’t sure if I was still on trail. But, all in all, I had a good time. I’ll be back.

This trail is great if you can't or don't want to complete the whole trail. You can do a 3-miler which loops back to your car or the same with a 7-miler.

Solid trail and moderate rate if is fair. Food for local workout underutilized 3 times and not even another car parked or hiker in sight

Did west as east seemed to be active with heavy equipment. Part park road not all tra

Enjoyed this trail watching lake activities during a good part of back trail. A bit swampy in some areas during wet season.

Not a difficult hike. Crosses with dirt roads. Good to be outdoors.

Would avoid. The hoof-prints make for a very muddy ordeal and the overgrowth are a breeding ground for chiggers, (pants are a must, my dog and I were infected). There are no designated backpacking sites along. Also the trail was covered in spider webs.

Pretty flooded with all the rain recently, but that’s to be expected. Very fun trail.

A hilly walk in the woods. The trail is in pretty rough shape this time of year with frozen hoofprints from horses. No bridges, but fairly easy to do the 2 water crossings.

Great trail and lots of history here.

A gentle trail, mostly packed gravel, but certainly has areas without it. The low hills, winding curves, a few deer and a nice gravel road or two makes for an enjoyable trail run.

Fun trail but was COVERED in all different kinds of ticks. We had to stop every 30 min or so to pick the ticks off. After the trail we went straight to the beach to change into swimsuits. We found another ~15 ticks on our clothing and socks. We had used a deet free bug spray. I would suggest getting something stronger if doing this trail in the summer.

This is by no means primarily a bike trail, in fact I would rate this has a horse only trail 100%... I did get a great workout, the hills are plenty, but there is no fun, or excitement to be had!!! I did not enjoy this trail on a bike, but I won't rate it badly, I can see on a horse this would be a great ride... however on a bike avoid this trail, if you're in the area I suggest Buffalo Trace trail at French Lick

Nice trail ! In early spring parts of the trail could be flooded due to the lake and spring rains.

Great trail, very muddy in spots after a recent rain but very worth it. Had the trail all to myself.

Moderate to hard for foot travel. Trails were pretty muddy due to horses. Somewhat sketchy camping area. Condom wrappers lying about...

Very Nice trail. Few muddy parts but most of trail had some gravel. Lots of hills. Started at trail head and went clockwise and did outer loop in little over 4 hours, 11 plus miles.

I liked it and loved all the pine forest around the lake.

great spot to watch fire works, but not heavily wooded

Love this trail! Fun as can be! Between the lake view, all the Pines, creek crossings and maintenance of the trail its perfect! Not hard at all (has its moments though) only saw one backcountry campsite but did see two group sites at recreation areas. Definitely a trail I will come back to!

Nice trail for a day hike

Great trail. Well-marked. May have some muddy spots and Creek crossings when wet. Beautiful old and new growth. We did the East part of the loop. Nice for kids (we took a toddler and an 8 yr old), but also some good elevation changes.

Nice trail, listed at 5.9 miles on map. Opportunity for water and restrooms at beach area in season. Trail follow a the road for a short time on the south side of the lake and you can hear the beach at a point or two on the trail. We met a pair of mountain bikers, but otherwise nobody else on the trail. There has been a fair amount of rain lately, so several wet and muddy spots where you will get your feet wet, but also a couple of places to filter water, if needed. I expect a couple of the streams have water except when it's really dry out. we parked at the beach and enjoyed a swim and picnic after the hike.

Awful! We did the East loop and it is not really a "hiking trail". After walking several miles up a gravel path, we went into the woods onto a path that's not clearly marked throughout. Tons of ticks, not cleared for walking. I would not recommend this trail. It isn't even pretty.

I followed horseshoe marks in the mud, but otherwise, not marked enough to follow without doubt. Crossed an overflowing rapid creek on a huge sycamore tree... and was thrilled for the challenge. Early spring 2016
