Not a bad hike, but definitely a very easy hike. I'm not sure why it's rated as moderate. Nice for an afternoon/evening hike.

Nice trail when it’s not busy. Go on a weekday if you can. Parking can get tricky on nice days.

Nice views of the reservoir, especially from the Weir Trail across the street from the small IU parking lot. The spur that goes down to the water is particularly pretty.

Great trail. Copperhead are pretty prominent in the area though. Our dog did get bit and the vet said he usually gets loads of bite wounds from the Griffy area. Snakes are always a possibility so be careful.

Well-maintained and well-marked. Griffy Creek Trail (C), and Lanam Trail (L) continue beyond the nature preserve's boundaries. Griffy Creek Trail parallels a dry stream bed that offers geodes, fossils, and a chance to meet some turtles.

beautiful views, some down trees. no big deal. some difficult spots, great hike. I did mine when the sun was rising, amazing.

It was a nice trail. We completed the 3.3 mile round trip with our 4 year old, 3 year old and 4 month old. Some parts were really in need of repair, they have been almost completely washed out. That said, the trail was beautiful and it was nice to have picnic tables by the lake for lunch before heading back on the trail for the trip back.

Griffy Creek trail is a nice flat trail run, though there are a few places where you just hop the (shallow) creek. RT from parking lot to end of trail is just over 5k

Good trails but not well marked. Very glad for app GPS!

Did both the North Shore Trail and Loop. Both were very exciting and fun, with a lot of altitude changes and great views. Although the trail is not marked well at all, the path is pretty cleared out so you can find your way through. So many nice spots to sit next to the water. Definitely recommend this one for avid hikers!

Very beautiful trails with awesome info signs and sights! Besides it being muddy, it was an enjoyable loop. Definitely recommend

Trail was not very well marked, and we were confused a lot about where to go - but in the end it was a good, solid hike. Should be rated "moderate" in my opinion, there were a lot of slippery, steep hills and even a rock face we weren't sure how to get around. Very pretty, though - I will be doing it again now that I know the route!

Nice trail but the best thing about this spot is kayak rentals. Nice bird watching. A fun place to go but crowded on nice summer days.

Just a beautiful fall day in Bloomington. Trails were marked well. Lots of leaves so you just had to watch your step for rocks and roots. We combined a few trails for a good 5 mile hike. It was pretty busy, but never too many people to slow us down.

Well maintained easy to navigate trails very close to town. With that they can be pretty "high traffic" but thats to be expected when you have such great trails this accessible. I love to use the trails for trail running because they are closer to my home than Pate Hallow, and there is still plenty to see along the way. All of griffy would be great to take out younger children or those of you who want to get out in the woods but don't have time to run out to the Deam or Morgan Monroe.

Griffy Lake is a beautiful and well maintained nature preserve just outside of Bloomington. The trails are easy to moderate, in good condition, with trail heads close to the boathouse and parking area. These trails aren't the longest you will hike in Indiana by any stretch, but they make it up in scenery. Many of the trails hug the edge of Griffy Lake, bending around steep vertical banks and rock shelves (there are also plenty of flat rocks for skipping, just mind the boating enthusiasts). Kayak and canoe rentals are available at the boathouse and charge by the hour. Unfortunately, camping and campfires are not permitted.

Multiple trails make up the system around Griffy Reservoir (aka Griffy Lake). These trails are visited frequently and range from easy to moderate. The trails are decently maintained and well marked. There are numerous sites to pause and admire almost the system including the lake and numerous streams-creeks. There are trail closures due to weather, damage, and research areas so watch for posted signs at trail heads.

Nice loop trail that connects to the IU Research Trails. This one has some shorter trails that branch off from it including one that leads down to the lake. Lots of deer on the trail this morning.

Nice set of trails just south of Griffy Lake. Trails on both sides of the road and most are really well marked loop trails with lots to see and some info signs about the preserve along the way.

The first half of this one is a loop that brings you down right along the lakeshore with some great views of Griffy Lake. The trail continues on at the top of the loop and eventually will connect you with the North Shore Loop Trail. Like the others at Griffy Lake, it's marked well and nicely maintained.

Nice set of trails right off of the boathouse parking lot. A few trails branch off from the main hiking trail but they are well marked on the posts and trees as you work your way around the lake.

Paved exercise trail running along side the Lower Cascades. Popular area with lots of traffic throughout the day.

Nice, short trail that starts up the steps by the dam and runs by the lake before looping around. Keep an eye out for white rectangles painted on the trees marking the trail.
